What kind of Seoul Botanic Park café is Pict Roastery?
Pict Roastery (픽트로스터리) is a specialty roastery café in Magongnaru that handles everything from roasting green beans to brewing in the shop. I finally had a free weekday afternoon, so I went to this café by Seoul Botanic Park. If you want specialty coffee, hand drip or brewed coffee in Magok, it's worth a visit.
- Address: 161-1 Magokjungang-ro, Room 226, 2F, Gangseo-gu, Seoul
- Hours: Wed–Sun 11:00–20:00

How do you get to Pict Roastery, and where do you park?
The building's basement has plenty of parking, so it was easy to park. If you buy something in the café, they register your parking time, so you can drive and relax without worrying.
It's within a 3-minute walk of Exit 2 at Magongnaru Station and right across from Seoul Botanic Park, so it's also a good stop after a walk in the park. We took our time, drinking coffee and chatting, and still got out within the 2 hours of parking.

There are quite a few cafés on the same 2nd floor, so it almost feels like a café alley. And the one where you can get properly house-roasted coffee is right here, Pict Roastery.

What are the atmosphere and seating like at Pict Roastery?
The whole shop is done in black tones, which felt calm.

Window single seats, laptop-friendly
The single seats along the window each have an outlet, so it would be a good place to work on a laptop. You get a relaxed view near the botanic park, so it also seems nice for some time alone.

The roasting machine in the shop
This is a roasting café, and with the roasting machine right in the shop, you can tell they do everything from roasting to brewing there.

Weekday americano discount and choosing your beans
On weekdays from 11:00 to 14:00, americanos are ₩2,000 off. Visit on a weekday afternoon and you get the cheapest americano. Coffee is the main thing here, but they also have a few desserts, so it's nice to pair them.

Since they handle the beans themselves, you can choose the beans you like when ordering coffee. If it's hard to pick, you could ask for a recommendation.

There's even a certificate on display, so you can tell Pict Roastery takes its beans and coffee seriously.

The shop isn't big, but it has a table that seats 5, like this.

Customers who have coffee in the café get one refill. After finishing our coffee, we decided to try an americano.

What did we order at Pict Roastery?
At Pict Roastery by Seoul Botanic Park, we ordered an iced latte, a black latte and pistachio tiramisu.
Iced latte: a deep gradient, exactly my taste
An iced latte is my default order anywhere, anytime. At a café that works with beans, I really wanted to try the latte.

The iced latte showed a very rich gradient even to the eye, and when I drank it, it was exactly the kind of iced latte I like. It was good enough that I thought I'd definitely come back for it.

Black latte: a subtle, deep sweetness
This is the black latte I ordered at the café, purely out of curiosity.

The black latte is said to be a smooth latte with macadamia, hazelnut and cacao notes, and at first glance I thought, is this a black sesame latte? When I drank it, it had a subtle, deep sweetness, and I liked it more with every sip.

It suited my taste perfectly. It's just right when you want something sweet instead of a regular latte. You get a latte flavor you probably haven't had before, so if you're curious, give it a try!

Pistachio tiramisu: nutty pistachio cream
The pistachio tiramisu is packed with pistachio, as the name says. The cream itself is pistachio cream, so you can taste the rich nuttiness.

Inside is a moist sponge layer, which goes really well with coffee.

How does the refill americano at Pict Roastery taste?
Once we'd finished our coffee, I got an americano with the one-time refill, and it felt like drinking the bean itself, with a deep intensity.

Because it roasts its own beans, this Seoul Botanic Park café makes fantastic coffee. Pict Roastery was a satisfying café.
