Why visit Orange Bagel in Suwon: a Deep Choco Bagel instead of a chocolate baguette
I went to Orange Bagel in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, on the weekend for its Deep Choco Bagel. I've been totally hooked on the trendy chocolate baguette lately, but this weekend I craved a chocolate dessert that was a bit different and still had a chewy texture. I heard that Orange Bagel, a famous bagel spot in Suwon, has a Deep Choco Bagel that rivals the chocolate baguette, so I went right away.
Daily 07:30–21:00 / Last order 20:30
The exotic-looking exterior stands out from far away, so I found it in one go without getting lost.

What are the seats and atmosphere like at Orange Bagel?
Orange Bagel even has a 3rd-floor rooftop, so there are really, really a lot of seats. The moment you step inside, it feels like a trendy Seoul café or a stylish overseas bakery. The interior is that pretty, with a wonderful atmosphere.
The tables are spaced out comfortably rather than cramped, so it's perfect for working quietly on a laptop alone or just relaxing~ I think it would also be great for chatting and unwinding with a partner or friends.

Above all, the cute props and moody posters filling one side of the shop, plus the natural light and interior, are so pretty that any photo you take turns out like a keepsake shot, haha!

Orange Bagel drink menu and the Bluewings fan discount
The drink menu at Orange Bagel has coffee, signature drinks made with orange, non-coffee drinks and ades, and there's also a standing 10% discount if you show proof that you're a Bluewings fan (the Suwon football team's supporters). It's famous as a Suwon bakery, but the coffee is said to be just as good as the bagels. True to the name Orange Bagel, there are signature drinks with orange, plus sweet non-coffee drinks and ades for people who don't drink coffee. They also sell pretty collaboration drinks.

What kinds of bagels are in the Orange Bagel display case?
And now, the main event: the bagel display case at Orange Bagel! There are so many kinds of bagels, and the looks alone are seriously something.

It starts with basic lines like plain, then bagels with a salty-savory touch, and plenty of bagels with all sorts of fillings. There's also butter tteok (butter rice cake), a trendy dessert right now.

There are also sandwich bagels that work as a meal rather than a dessert. Compared with the big bakery cafés that are trendy these days, the prices are reasonable for the quality.

The bright orange packaging box is pretty too, so I think it would make a great gift or thank-you present, haha
They also sell spreads that go well with bagels and a variety of bottled drinks. The spreads come in many kinds, so you can buy what suits your taste.

What I ordered at Orange Bagel
My picks at Orange Bagel were an iced americano, a café latte, the Scallion Cream Cheese Bacon Bagel and the Deep Choco Bagel. There are so many kinds of bagels that I chose after a long deliberation. They look really pretty, so the photos turned out well no matter how I shot them.

Deep Choco Bagel, ₩6,300: rich chocolate with a brownie inside
The Deep Choco Bagel at Orange Bagel is ₩6,300, with a thick, fudgy, rich brownie inside a chewy bagel. This is today's highlight and the reason I visited Orange Bagel that day~ The dark chocolate coating looks gorgeous from the outside.

On the first bite you get the dense, chewy texture typical of a bagel, then a deep sweetness from the brownie. It isn't a light, cheap chocolate flavor but a bittersweet, deep one, and I really enjoyed it, haha. If you like chocolate, this is a bagel you have to try.

Scallion Cream Cheese Bacon Bagel, ₩8,500: a sweet-and-salty meal replacement
The Scallion Cream Cheese Bacon Bagel at Orange Bagel is ₩8,500, with white, thick cream cheese generously stuffed between a well-toasted, chewy bagel~ Fragrant scallions and salty bacon chips are packed densely onto the cream cheese surface.
Take a big bite and you get a perfect sweet-salty-sweet-salty combo of crunchy scallions and bacon in the heavy, smooth, rich cream cheese. The bagel itself wasn't tough on the outside but chewy, and moist inside, so it was delicious. It was filling and varied enough to work as a meal!

How are the café latte and iced americano at Orange Bagel?
The café latte at Orange Bagel was better than I expected. There was no milky off-taste at all, just a rich, nutty, clean flavor, and the ratio with the espresso shot was perfect.
The iced americano has a taste that cleans up your mouth. At bakery cafés the coffee is often too weak, but the americano at Orange Bagel, a Suwon favorite, wasn't too acidic and had an appealing heavy body. I'll vouch for it as a coffee spot too, haha!
