It's a hot summer and I needed some stamina food! So I headed to Deo Chadol (더차돌) Gwacheon main branch, famous as a Gwacheon duck BBQ spot ^.^
Parking and wait times at Deo Chadol Gwacheon
Deo Chadol Gwacheon main branch has parking right in front, so going by car is easy. It's a well-known Gwacheon restaurant and the building is pretty big, so it seems great for all kinds of gatherings.

This is the Deo Chadol Gwacheon main branch! The exterior is quite big, so it seems great for all kinds of gatherings.

There's even a space set up for waiting. I visited early in the evening, so luckily I got in with no wait, but a bit later a line started to form. It's that kind of popular place, hehe.

The parking area out front is pretty wide, which was so convenient, haha. Parking is always a worry when you drive, so this one passes! >.<
Inside Deo Chadol Gwacheon: private rooms and the self-serve bar
The inside of Deo Chadol Gwacheon is pleasant, a spacious place with plenty of tables. It's clean with a nice atmosphere, so I think it's great for family gatherings or company dinners, haha.

There's a restroom inside, and private rooms too. If you reserve ahead, you can hold a gathering in a room like this, which seems cozy and nice.
There's also a self-serve bar stocked with tableware, sauces, side dishes and ssam vegetables (leaves for wrapping meat), which made refills easy ^^

They're also running a review event, so you might want to join in.
Deo Chadol Gwacheon menu and what we paid
At Deo Chadol Gwacheon, we ordered 2 servings of sulfur duck chadol (180g, ₩18,000), plus grilling cheese, butcher-shop doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and self-serve fried rice.

- Sulfur duck chadol (180g): ₩18,000 × 2 servings
- Grilling cheese: ₩4,000
- Butcher-shop doenjang jjigae: ₩4,000
- Self-serve fried rice: ₩4,000
- Drink: ₩2,000
- Steamed rice: ₩1,000

I liked how neat the fresh ssam vegetables and side dishes were. You can refill at the self-serve bar, so you can eat as much as you like.

Minari (water dropwort), onion, mushrooms and the grilling cheese are specialties too, so I ordered them, haha. They were so good grilled together.

How does the sulfur-fed duck brisket (180g) taste?
I heard Deo Chadol's sulfur duck chadol is made by hand: fresh duck is trimmed in-house, sliced thin and flash-chilled. Dipped in Deo Chadol's own homemade sauce, it was really delicious!

The meat quality was great too, and eating it with fresh minari doubles the flavor.

Duck is good for your health, and eating it sliced this thin felt different and went really well with the ssam vegetables ^^ Duck is low-fat, high-protein food, so you know you can eat a lot without gaining weight, right? haha
Grilling cheese (4,000 won)

The super stretchy grilling cheese was really good alongside the duck chadol. If you're bringing a baby, I definitely recommend ordering it!
BBQ-house doenjang jjigae (4,000 won)
You can't skip doenjang jjigae with meat! Deo Chadol's version is generously filled with enoki mushrooms, zucchini, tofu and more, so the flavor was rich and good, haha.

Finishing with self-serve fried rice (4,000 won)
Koreans always finish with rice, right? haha Having the self-serve fried rice with grilling cheese made a really filling end to the meal, and I was satisfied ^.^
I wrapped it in ssam vegetables too, and finely chopped mild duck meat mixed in with the fried rice was a perfect match.
Is Deo Chadol Gwacheon worth a return visit?
Deo Chadol Gwacheon has lots of repeat customers, and it nailed both service and taste! It's a spacious, pleasant place for families or company dinners, so there's a reason it's famous as a Gwacheon favorite. Parking is easy and the food is delicious, so I really recommend a visit ♥
