Cafe Dongi is a place we visit with our kid pretty often — they have a dedicated kids' menu and the prices are so reasonable that we always leave satisfied. This is Cafe Dongi Suseong 1-ga Branch. Moms know the struggle, right? "What should I feed them today?" Cooking a meal at home is a whole task, but solving even just one meal by eating out makes life so much easier. Cafe Dongi is a spot we drop by with our kid often.
Where is Cafe Dongi Suseong 1-ga Branch? Parking and hours
Cafe Dongi Suseong 1-ga Branch is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 4 of Daebonggyo Station. It's the first building of the Lotte Castle The First shopping complex. It's open daily from 11:00 AM to 8:30 PM, with break time from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and last orders at 2:30 PM and 8:00 PM.

You can use the shopping complex parking lot. We visited right at the weekday 11am opening so we could park immediately. By the time we finished eating, there were so many customers that double parking was common. Just keep in mind that parking can be a bit tricky during lunch hours.

What we ordered at Cafe Dongi, and what it cost
- Grandma-style grilled baby octopus — ₩16,900
- Fire-grilled pork set meal — ₩12,900
- Kids' sweet and sour pork tray — ₩4,900
- Tasting portion of sweet and sour pork — ₩9,900
The value for money is really solid, so ordering a bunch of dishes didn't feel like a burden at all.
Kids' sweet and sour pork tray, 4,900 won: how our two-year-old did
Our kid just turned two, and she really enjoyed Cafe Dongi's kids' sweet and sour pork tray (₩4,900). Just having a menu made specifically for kids is such a relief for parents, but the taste was good too, so she finished almost all of it. Seeing your kid eat well already feels like a successful outing — solving even one meal for your child makes you feel so much more at ease!
The dish I recommend most at Cafe Dongi: grandma's baby octopus

After visiting Cafe Dongi multiple times and trying various menu items, my personal top recommendation is the 'grandma-style grilled baby octopus.' It's spicy but with great savory depth — a dish I keep craving every time I go.

The fire-grilled pork set meal was also really delicious with that smoky char flavor alive — both dishes are the kind that make rice disappear fast.
Cafe Dongi's sweet and sour pork was better than expected

Honestly, the first time we came, I just got to try a bite of the sweet and sour pork from the kids' menu, and it was so good that this time we ordered the tasting portion of sweet and sour pork (₩9,900) on its own. Cafe Dongi's sweet and sour pork is apparently made with rice nuruk (fermentation starter), long-fermented, with no flour used at all. When you hear an explanation like that, you'd think it might taste a bit bland and 'healthy,' but no! Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside — grown-ups can really enjoy this one too. (Our picky-eater toddler kept asking for more of this one.)
What's on the free self-serve bar at Cafe Dongi

Cafe Dongi's self-serve bar is genuinely well stocked. You can grill as many eggs as you like yourself, and there's seaweed too — wrapping the egg in seaweed and dipping it in soy sauce is basically a rice thief. If you need more rice, there's five-grain rice you can freely help yourself to, and after the meal there's even barley candy for dessert. These little touches really make the meal feel more satisfying. If you're looking for a good Korean restaurant in Suseong-gu, stop by.

We arrived at the 11am opening, and Cafe Dongi filled up fast
We visited Cafe Dongi Suseong 1-ga Branch right at the weekday 11am opening. At first we could eat comfortably with plenty of space, but by the time we finished eating, the tables were nearly full and there were even waiting customers.

If you're looking for a place where you can eat comfortably with your kid, I'd recommend Cafe Dongi Suseong 1-ga Branch. There's a dedicated kids' menu, the prices aren't a burden, and the food quality along with the self-serve bar setup was all satisfying. The grandma-style grilled baby octopus and Dongi sweet and sour pork especially are dishes I hope you get to try!
We can solve a meal for our kid while the adults also get to eat a hearty, delicious meal, so I think our family will keep coming back here often.
