Yangyang meat restaurant lunch with a child: Yeoyejeong

During a trip to Yangyang, I went to Yeoyejeong (여여정) in Seo-myeon for lunch with my child. It is a meat restaurant, but it has a lunch-set meat sotbap (rice cooked in a stone pot), so I chose it for a meal. Since I was visiting with a child, I also checked the parking, high chairs, and restroom location.

Is parking convenient, and until what time can you order lunch?

Yeoyejeong is at 49 Ssangsolbaegi-gil, Seo-myeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon, South Korea. There was a large free dedicated parking area in front of the restaurant, which made parking easy.

The hours listed when the original post was written were 11:30–21:00 on Monday and Wednesday through Sunday, with regular closure every Tuesday. The break time was listed as 15:00–17:00, with lunch meat orders closing at 13:30 and lunch-set orders at 14:00.

Are there high chairs and an indoor restroom?

The exterior had the feel of a cottage, while the interior was neat. High chairs were available, which was helpful for dining with a child. Most of all, the restroom was inside the restaurant, so I did not need to take my child outside.

At the time of my visit, there was also a prize-draw event for customers who wrote a review. After our meal, I tried the draw with my child, and my child enjoyed it too.

What did we eat for lunch with a child?

I ordered two lunch-set meat sotbap, bomb steamed eggs, and kimchi stew. The meat sotbap was hearty enough for a full meal, and the steamed eggs were easy to share with my child. With the kimchi stew alongside them, it made a suitable lunch.

What else is on the menu besides the lunch set?

The menu was varied, from charcoal-grilled meat to noodles and stews. According to the restaurant's description, it uses only fresh, salt-aged beef and pork, and it also marinates its seasoned galbi (marinated ribs) by hand in its own sauce. I had lunch this time, but I would like to try the grilled dishes next time.

The restaurant says it makes the baekkimchi (white kimchi) used in its side dishes and noodles itself. It also stated that it uses peppers and other vegetables grown in its own Yangyang fields, along with ingredients from local farms.

How were the kimchi stew and bomb steamed eggs?

Since it seemed like we would be ordering a lot of food, I hesitated over adding the kimchi stew, but I liked its spicy, warming flavor. I was glad we ordered it.

The bomb steamed eggs were soft and fluffy, and my child ate them well. The portion was generous enough for an adult and child to share.

For this lunch with my child, I was satisfied with the amenities as well as the food. The large parking area, high chairs, and indoor restroom made it convenient for a family meal, and the prize-draw event after the meal gave my child a little extra fun.
