Seomyeon pizza brunch with daytime beer and ragu lasagna: Pickles

Today I went out to Jeonpo for brunch with a friend and finally tried "Pickles", a place I'd been curious about for ages! It's been open a while, but it kept showing up on social media, and once I visited I understood why there's a wait. Both the atmosphere and the food were great, so let me introduce this Jeonpo Western restaurant, Pickles 🤎

Pickles in Jeonpo: hours, directions and parking

Pickles is open daily 11:00–21:00, with last order at 20:00. It's a 2-minute walk from Exit 7 of Jeonpo Station (Line 2), so it's easy to reach!

You can also walk from Seomyeon Station in about 10 minutes. If you drive, the nearest lots are Woongjin Parking Lot (2 minutes away), and Duwon Parking Lot and Taeyang Private Parking Lot (3 minutes away), so it's convenient :) Parking is usually ₩1,800 per 60 minutes ✔️

Is there a wait at Pickles if you arrive at opening on a weekday?

Pickles is known for its waits, so I went right at opening even though it was a weekday. And yet there were people even more diligent than me, haha

Pickles is on the first floor of a converted two-story house. There's a space in the yard for waiting, so that's fine :) From the outside it already had a real-deal vibe! And kind of a hip feel too, haha. I'd only heard rumors, and I finally made it 👍🏻

What is the atmosphere like inside Pickles?

The interior is beige and wood tones with lighting on top, so it feels cozy and nice! The music was pop with some rhythm to it, though, so it wasn't purely calm. (I just liked the whole feel of it, okay.. 💓)

Self-serve homemade pickles and Budweiser draft beer at Pickles

The homemade pickles are set up at a self-serve bar, so you can take as much as you like. And Pickles serves Budweiser draft beer!! Pizza and beer is just the best 💛

I rarely see Budweiser on draft, so it was a nice surprise :) Instead of soda, draft beer is a must for me, haha

What two of us ordered at Pickles, and the prices

My friend and I ordered the pizza + pasta set (₩39,000) with the pasta switched to lasagna (+₩5,000), plus two draft beers (₩5,000 × 2).

• Pizza + pasta set ₩39,000 + ₩5,000 extra for lasagna
• Draft beer ₩5,000 × 2

We ordered the half-and-half pizza and pasta set, and choosing lasagna as the pasta cost ₩5,000 more. You can pick two flavors for the pizza, so we went with jambon-beurre (ham and butter) and beef cheeseburger!

How were the jambon-beurre and beef cheeseburger half-and-half pizza and ragu lasagna?

The jambon-beurre and beef cheeseburger half-and-half pizza had a crisp crust that paired really well with the special toppings. It was light rather than greasy, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy!

The lasagna had the deep flavor of a ragu simmered for a long time with plenty of beef and pork, and the layers of pasta, cheese and even arugula came together nicely. I enjoyed it a lot 🙂

Can you take leftover pizza home from Pickles?

At Pickles, if you ask the staff, they'll wrap leftover pizza slice by slice in foil and put it in a paper bag 👍🏻

Pickles in Jeonpo: final verdict on brunch and daytime beer

Jeonpo has so many great restaurants, but Pickles satisfied me on the food, the atmosphere and even the music :) The half-and-half pizza and pasta combo was really excellent, and it's a perfect spot for daytime beers, haha. If you're looking for a Seomyeon-Jeonpo date spot or a Western restaurant with a good mood, I recommend it 💛
