I had brunch but had to be at the Boundy concert at 4pm, haha, so I had this awkward window of time and went looking for something light to eat — while also trying to diet a bit — and found this salad spot! Why Starve Gongdeok! It was great that it's right inside the building in front of Gongdeok Station Exit 2, no need to go outside haha.

The interior isn't huge, but they've got solo dining spots set up nicely and tables too, so it was perfect for two of us to eat something simple.

At Why Starve Gongdeok Main Branch you order at the kiosk, choosing your protein and base in two steps. This lets you see the whole menu at a glance!

• STEP 1️⃣ Choose from chicken, smoked duck, beef, or salmon!
• STEP 2️⃣ Choose from pasta, oats, tofu noodles, or cauliflower rice! (Pasta and tofu noodles can also be switched to mala flavor!)

Side menu options include Greek yogurt, tomato/pumpkin soup, protein cookies (dark chocolate almond, green tea macadamia), and boiled eggs!

For drinks too there's a lot of diet-friendly options — zero-sugar kombucha, Welch's Zero, sparkling water, and more haha.

From the Drink Set I picked chicken - light (veggies only) - Narang-d cider - oriental sauce! I love the oriental sauce so much ,,!!!

My partner went with the Side Set — smoked duck - mala pasta - sriracha mayo sauce — and added Greek yogurt too haha.

How do the light chicken and mala pasta taste?

At Why Starve Gongdeok Main Branch they make it fresh the moment you order, so it was piping hot and delicious!

I thought the chicken breast would be dry, but I was so surprised — it was really moist, tender, and tasty!!! 100% would order again.

Salad size tip: it looks really small at first, but once you mix it up and start eating, it never seems to end .... I ended up so full I couldn't finish the chicken, left two pieces? and tossed them to my partner ...

+)) Ah, next time I'll skip the olives haha (you can leave out any ingredients you don't want when ordering at the kiosk!!)

My partner's smoked duck mala pasta — at first he was like, where's the mala, huh? but the sauce was underneath!! Haha, he said he was glad he ordered mala, and dug right in!

Another great thing! They give the sauce separately so you can adjust how much you want (I poured all of mine in haha).

Why Starve's Greek yogurt is thick enough to order on its own

Highly recommend the Greek yogurt too!!!!! I didn't expect much but it was seriously, seriously thick and delicious.

The combo of granola, berries (blueberries and cranberries hiding underneath), honey, and corn flakes was perfect, and by the time I finished it I was totally full haha. The portion is generous enough that you could just buy this alone whenever you want a quick Greek yogurt fix — pretty solid!

Would I go back to Why Starve Diet in Gongdeok?

There seemed to be a lot of people doing delivery or takeout too!! Looks like they have chain locations all over the country, so I'll have to try it again next time — curious about the protein cookies too!!! If you want a cookie but are worried about your diet ,, well anyway, it's protein,,, haha. Thanks for the good meal! Going forward too... gotta eat well while dieting .....
