What Mini Male Juam, a Yangjae bakery café, feels like inside

The overall vibe was pretty chic — the inside is clean, no-frills modern. Black and gray furniture mixed with metal accents, and the ceiling has that exposed-concrete finish, so it felt a bit different from the warm, cozy cafés you see everywhere these days. Gray tones, wood, and metal all mixed together gave it a real contemporary café feel.

I visited during lunchtime, and this bakery café had quite a few nearby office workers around. Some were just grabbing a quick takeout coffee, while others ordered bread and drinks to sit and chat over their lunch break.

The bakery counter at Mini Male Juam: what's baked and what it costs

The coffee menu was pretty varied, but the bakery items caught my eye first. The display case had scones, croissants, egg tarts, and all sorts of pastries neatly lined up. Even in photos you can tell the bread looked really good visually. Especially the pastries with that glossy sheen — they seemed perfect with coffee.

Prices were neatly listed on the menu board. The americano was 3,600 won for regular, 4,100 for large, and 4,600 for venti. Lattes were mostly in the high 4,000s to 5,000s won range. Given how café prices are these days, it wasn't an overly burdensome price range.

Helsinki latte and americano at Mini Male Juam

Helsinki latte and americano on the table

The drinks I ordered that day were a Helsinki latte and an americano. The Helsinki latte had a slightly unusual name from the start, and looking at the menu, it's marked as Mini Male's signature drink. It's a soft milk-based latte that paired well with the bread. Personally, I don't love drinks that are too heavy alongside sweet desserts, but this combo worked really well.

The americano was, as always, the safest choice when eating bread. This bakery café is fine if you just want to grab coffee, but pairing it with bakery items definitely suits the vibe here better.

Why the scone and egg tart belong together

For bread, I picked a scone and an egg tart. The scone was baked golden on the outside, so it looked nutty and savory just from appearance, and it came with jam to eat alongside it in the middle.

And the thing that caught my eye the most that day was the egg tart. The outside had those distinct layered pastry folds and was baked golden on top. When I cut into it, the inside was packed with yellow custard.

Egg tart really is best with a warm coffee.

Window seat with natural light

Honestly, I liked this understated atmosphere. Natural light came in through the window seats, and the tables were spaced more generously than I expected. During lunchtime, there are a lot of office worker customers, so if you're expecting a quiet café, it's better to avoid that time slot. On the other hand, if you like that lively lunchtime office energy, it's actually a good fit.

Looking for a bakery café near Yangjae Station?

This bakery café was a great spot to handle coffee and bakery items in one go. Especially with menu items like scones, pastries, and egg tarts that go well with coffee, it'd also work fine as a simple brunch stop.

One coffee and one pastry: what a lunch break here costs

It might not seem like much, but this kind of combo can quietly become the best part of your day. That day at Mini Male Coffee Roaster Juam Branch, I had a Helsinki latte and americano along with a scone and egg tart.

Babka, the signature bread at Mini Male Coffee Roaster

Mini Male's signature bread, babka, can't be left out either. Babka is a sweet fermented bread originating from Eastern European Jewish tradition, known for twisting chocolate or cinnamon into the dough before baking. Mini Male's babka has those same visible layered folds along with a nutty, sweet flavor that pairs well with coffee.

We'd already tried it once before, so this time we went with our beloved egg tart and scone instead. If it's your first visit to this bakery café, the signature babka is definitely worth trying at least once.

During lunchtime, it was full of nearby office workers, and the space itself was clean, making it a nice quick coffee stop. Personally, I prefer this kind of clean, straightforward presentation of space and menu over an elaborately decorated café. Worth a visit if you're looking for a lunchtime office café or want to enjoy coffee and bakery together.
