Cafe Neorae: a large Sokcho café after a jjampong sundubu breakfast

Cafe Neorae is a large Sokcho café famous for its view of Ulsanbawi Rock, and I stopped by for dessert after a hangover-curing bowl of jjampong sundubu (spicy seafood soft tofu stew). On a trip to Sokcho, after something salty you immediately crave something sweet, right? I'd been looking for a big Sokcho café where I could drink coffee while looking at Ulsanbawi, so I was really looking forward to this one! Sadly it was cloudy the day I went, but the café itself is pretty, so it was fun to look around. 🫨

Where is Cafe Neorae, and what are its opening hours?

Cafe Neorae is in Sokcho's Soondubu Village (tofu village), on the 2nd floor of the Yetgoeul Sundubu building! It's a perfect spot to come for dessert after a tofu meal >ᴗ<

Once you go up to the 2nd floor, Cafe Neorae is right there :)

Cafe Neorae floor by floor: seating and interior

Cafe Neorae spans the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors, and the 4th floor is a rooftop! What you see here is the 2nd floor. It has so many potted plants, and the whole place feels green, warm and cozy. 🍀🌱 The interior was really pretty too ♥

There was a good variety of bakery items! There's also a self-service bar for warming up bread, so you can enjoy it hot, which I liked haha

There were seats by the stairs going up to the 3rd floor too! You can see Ulsanbawi through the window from here as well, and on a clear day I bet the view is amazing.

Cafe Neorae has lots of hidden nooks tucked between the floors! Even the back of the 3rd floor has a cozy spot like this haha. It's a big Sokcho café that's fun to explore in every corner ˘◡˘

Can you see Ulsanbawi from Cafe Neorae on a cloudy day?

You can see Ulsanbawi through the big windows on the 3rd floor of Cafe Neorae, but on a cloudy day it wasn't clear. Wow.. the Ulsanbawi view through those windows.. >_< ෆ The weather was so overcast that the rock wasn't sharp, but cloudy days have their own charm! ☁️ Still, I think it would be much better to come back when the sky is clear!

Cafe Neorae restrooms and baby chairs

The restrooms at Cafe Neorae are on the 1st and 2nd floors, and they have baby chairs too! It looked fine for visiting with a child.

Back down on the 2nd floor, there's a lush green hidden nook at the back here too haha

What we ordered at Cafe Neorae, with prices

At Cafe Neorae I ordered a sweet corn fresh cream cake for ₩7,500, a Neorae Latte for ₩7,500 and an iced Americano for ₩6,000. Order done (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑

They also have separate signature menu items! I'll have to come back and conquer the other signatures one by one ✨

And finally, the order arrives.. ♥ The Neorae Latte, the iced Americano, and the sweet corn fresh cream cake! Even though I'd just eaten jjampong sundubu, there's always a separate stomach for dessert, right..? ⌯ᵔ⤙ᵔ⌯ಣ

Need I say more about sweet cake with a cold iced Americano! And on top of that, the Neorae Latte topped with Neorae cream, made from biji (soybean pulp left over from making tofu) and cream! haha A latte with biji in it, so I was curious what it would taste like.

How does Cafe Neorae's sweet corn fresh cream cake taste?

Cafe Neorae's sweet corn fresh cream cake has the softness of fresh cream with the distinctive sweetness of corn..💛 You can chew on corn kernels too, so it feels different from an ordinary fresh cream cake haha

Cafe Neorae iced Americano: how nutty are the beans?

The coffee at Cafe Neorae isn't strongly acidic and leans nutty, so it was perfect with sweet cake! With cake I'm always team iced Americano ("ahh") ㅎ-ㅎ

What does the biji cream Neorae Latte taste like?

The Neorae Latte was nuttier and smoother than I expected, like a mellow latte. I was curious, so I immediately swiped a sip from my husband's! I wondered what biji and cream together would taste like, but it suited my taste too, so I'd order it again next time. ๑•‿•๑

Cafe Neorae's 4th-floor rooftop

Before leaving Cafe Neorae, I also went up to the 4th-floor rooftop! haha Wow.. the clouds meant Ulsanbawi wasn't very visible, but it still had its own atmosphere and was nice. I really want to come back on a clear day and see the wide-open Ulsanbawi view!!!!

An Ulsanbawi view, a cozy interior and sweet desserts too! Cafe Neorae is a great place to rest and relax in Sokcho ♥ If you're looking for a big café in Sokcho, I think it's worth a visit :)
