Cleansing balm for dehydrated oily skin: HEEDA Jirisan Charcoal
In short
HEEDA Jirisan Moist Charcoal Cleansing Balm is a Korean cleansing balm I tried on dehydrated oily skin after wearing BB cream and blush. It melted my light base makeup comfortably and left less of a tight, dry feeling after my double cleanse, though I did not test it on waterproof mascara or long-wearing lip color.

How did the texture and massage feel on dehydrated oily skin?

My skin gets oily, but it also feels tight and dehydrated after cleansing, so I have dehydrated oily skin. On days when I wear cushion foundation or BB cream, I usually melt off my makeup with a cleansing balm and then use cleansing foam, so I looked at both cleansing power and how my skin felt afterward.

This product came in a jar with a spatula. The black balm texture felt unfamiliar at first, but it was slightly dense yet easy to scoop with the spatula, then turned into a smooth oil when it touched my skin.

I applied it to dry skin and massaged slowly, and it spread without feeling stiff or dragging. The scent was subtle while cleansing, and it did not bother me much. If you are sensitive to fragrance, it would be better to start with a small amount.

Did it remove BB cream and blush well?

That day, I removed the BB cream and blush I had applied lightly. Even when I massaged without pressing hard, the color dissolved naturally. As I added small amounts of lukewarm water with my fingertips to emulsify it, the black oil turned grayish and loosened lightly.

Rather than adding a lot of water at once, I found it easier to rinse by adding it gradually and massaging several times. After rinsing thoroughly, the BB cream and blush I used came off without noticeable residue, and my skin felt softly smoothed rather than coated in a heavy oil film.

I did not test long-wearing color makeup such as waterproof mascara or deep lip color. On days when I wear that kind of makeup, I think using a dedicated remover separately would leave a cleaner result.

How tight did my skin feel after cleansing?

The thing I paid the most attention to was tightness after cleansing. After using it, my skin felt less as if it had been stripped dry, and it remained moisturized and soft enough that I felt relatively comfortable without urgently reaching for skincare. On days when I wore base makeup, I followed it with one more cleanse using a gentle cleansing foam.

It melted everyday makeup like BB cream and blush without strain, leaving a comfortable finish rather than a squeaky-clean feel.

What was disappointing about using it?

Because it comes in a jar, having to use and store the spatula every time may feel inconvenient. The black texture was unfamiliar at first, but I did not find the color inconvenient once it melted with body heat and I emulsified it with water.

What days was it good to use?

It suited days when, like me, you have dehydrated oily skin and are concerned about tightness after cleansing, or when you want to double cleanse gently after wearing base makeup. In this test, I was especially impressed by how it melted everyday makeup and how comfortable my skin felt afterward.
