Pho restaurant in Pyeongtaek with a clean open kitchen: Mibundang

Craving hot pho on a hot day in Pyeongtaek?

It was one of those days when the feels-like temperature hit nearly 36°C. I had errands in Pyeongtaek and ended up eating pho at Mibundang Pyeongtaek City Hall Branch (미분당 평택시청점). Lately I keep seeing so many pho places on my neighbors' blogs! And I don't know why, but I really wanted a hot bowl of pho to fight heat with heat (the Korean idea of 이열치열)... When your body asks for it, you just have to give it what it wants!

When I searched nearby, there was a Mibundang that already had a good reputation as a Pyeongtaek pho place! I'd tried another branch once and could never forget how the bowl looked, so I went straight there! Let's gooooo~~~~~~

Mibundang Pyeongtaek City Hall Branch: location, hours and parking

Mibundang Pyeongtaek City Hall Branch is on the ground floor of CM Tower, 28 Pyeongtaek 5-ro 20beon-gil, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, South Korea. Hours are 11:00–20:30 (last order 14:30 / 20:00), with a break from 15:00 to 17:00. The ground-level lot fits 10 cars.

The shop front is all wood, which somehow calms you down even before you walk in :) It also feels a bit like an old-style pub 🙃

How do you order and sit at Mibundang Pyeongtaek City Hall Branch?

You order first at the kiosk right inside the entrance! Pick, pick, pick whatever you want~~~🥰 Then you head inside!!

Wow, the interior is super clean! Clean and classy at the same time :) It's made up entirely of counter (dacchi) seats, so it's perfect for sitting side by side and eating 🙂

Even the coat hangers are hung so neatly, haha. You can really see the owner's attention to detail and good sense!

A clean open kitchen you can trust

The kitchen is open, so while you wait you can watch the owner cook right from your seat. That made me trust the place even more 👍 And the kitchen was so clean! As someone who works in the same line of business, I was really satisfied. I think cleanliness is the absolute basic of any restaurant! A fly would slip and fall in here 😆 That line just came out of me naturally, hahaha.

But wait, the amount of meat... is this for real? 👍 There was a moment where I wondered how long they'd keep adding it? And then they stopped 🤭 Seriously, it was a huge amount of meat, haha. Great for me as a customer though!!

Chadol-yangji brisket pho for ₩12,500: how did it taste?

What I ordered was the beef brisket pho (차돌양지쌀국수, ₩12,500). Wow... two kinds of meat meeting in one bowl... the quantity is no joke! Let me take a bite first!

Wow... the meat melts in your mouth... Not just the brisket, but the thin-sliced beef is so tender too! Tender meat, crunchy bean sprouts! And a mouth stuffed full of meat T_T It's sooo sooo sooo delicious~~~~~😭

I took a sip of the broth... it isn't salty, which I love 👍 There's no funky aroma either! It's clear but rich, and the refreshing taste goes without saying! There's a reason Mibundang is so busy, right? I think boiling the meat is part of their secret too 😍 Even when I shared some out, the bowl never seemed to end, haha.

Yangji brisket pho for ₩11,500

And next, this one! The brisket pho (양지쌀국수, ₩11,500). Brisket shredded along the grain was piled on really, really generously! The pho was covered so completely you couldn't see the noodles... haha. The brisket is seriously tender and so delicious. The meat is the winning move!

Can't pick a side? Get the assorted platter

And it doesn't end here! You can't not order a side, right? I wanted to try everything, but the portions are so big! So the answer is this assorted side platter (모듬전식)! You get 8 pieces covering all of Mibundang's side dishes in one go! It was so nice to taste them one by one.

Wow, every single side was delicious T_T The shrimp was plump and bouncy, there was a sweet potato mousse filling, and chicken wings! They look pretty and taste good too! A set that goes perfectly with pho 🤭

Sauce combinations and the counter-seat setup

The sauces are on a shelf above your seat. When I saw they'd even prepared mask holders and hair ties, I thought, what a thoughtful owner 😁

The moment I saw the sauces, I went full custom style!! Hoisin sauce and spicy sauce, mix mix mix~~ Yep, this is the taste! If you like spicy food like me, I recommend this, haha.

If you pull the hook at the front of your personal spot and open it, there's a spoon, chopsticks and plate set up. Next to it, you can even pull out napkins. I think this might be the best use of space for counter seating 🩷

Mibundang Pyeongtaek City Hall Branch: final verdict

The table that was so neatly set got totally wiped out! Once again I ate really, really well. Among the brisket-and-thin-beef pho I've had lately, Mibundang Pyeongtaek City Hall Branch is the best, from the amount of meat to the tenderness 👍 If you're looking for a good pho place in Pyeongtaek, I highly recommend it! It's also a hearty, great choice for lunch 😍
