I heard there's a sushi train near Pyeongtaek Station where every single plate is ₩2,100, so I got curious and went. It's right in front of the station, easy to get to, and has lots of extras, so it looked good for a student date or a casual meal out. Here's my honest review after trying lots of different plates.
Where is Mikado Sushi Pyeongtaek Station Branch, and what about hours and parking?
Mikado Sushi Pyeongtaek Station Branch is on the first floor of a building at 39-16 Pyeongtaek-dong, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi. It's open daily 11:30–21:30 (break 15:00–17:00, last order 21:00). Takeout, Wi-Fi, group visits, delivery, baby chairs, a waiting area and mobile payment are all available.

There's no parking lot, so you'll need a nearby public car park, but it's very close to Pyeongtaek Station, so it's a great spot to reach by public transport.
Outside the shop there were drinks set out for delivery drivers too, which felt like a warm touch.

I also saw notices for families and kids. Families with children should be able to visit without worry.

Is the seating good for solo diners, dates and families?
Inside there's a big L-shaped sushi bar with a long run of single seats, perfect for dining alone. Every two-person seat has a clear partition, so I could eat fairly comfortably.

There are table seats further in too, which looked fine for family meals or get-togethers with friends. Groups of three or four could sit comfortably. As a kid-welcoming place, it also has baby chairs.

There's also a waiting area inside, so waiting guests can sit down comfortably.

Amenities, even over-the-counter medicine and women's hygiene products
What impressed me more than I expected was the amenities. Wi-Fi, chargers, aprons, hair ties, fabric deodorizer, blankets, hand cream, disposable mouthwash, and even women's hygiene products and basic medicine. It felt like they'd thought about students and young guests. It may seem minor, but surprisingly few places cover all this, and I was touched by the thoughtful service.

At your seat you can help yourself to soy sauce, pickled scallions (rakkyo), and wasabi, and each table has a variety of sauces, so you can eat to your own taste. You can even add the sauces you like and make your own sushi.

Once I sat down, I first put soy sauce, pickled scallions and wasabi out before eating.
How much does Mikado Sushi Pyeongtaek Station Branch cost? Every plate is ₩2,100
The biggest feature here is that every plate is a flat ₩2,100. You don't have to think about plate colors or price tags, so you can grab things without stress.

How did each shrimp sushi taste?
I started with the grilled shrimp cheese sushi. I love shrimp so much, and I really like sushi with this kind of shrimp-and-sauce combo, so my expectations were high. The flavor wasn't as strong as I'd hoped, but it was perfectly enjoyable.
The raw shrimp sushi had a soft shrimp texture and a modest amount of rice, so it was easy to eat.

The grilled shrimp cheese roll I grabbed twice
My favorite that day was the grilled shrimp cheese roll. I don't usually eat rolls much, but it was easy enough to eat that I took a second plate.

Grilled egg sweet shrimp, two plates
This is the grilled egg sweet shrimp (dan-saeu) sushi. It's made for someone who loves egg and shrimp like me. The sweet egg and soft sweet shrimp go well together, and I happily ate two plates. This was my number one.
Soy sauce shrimp sushi: a mixed bag
The soy sauce shrimp sushi was hit or miss for me. (I didn't like it..) Rather than a sweet soy shrimp style, the soy sauce flavor felt fairly strong, so I think preferences may split.
What about the salmon, beef sashimi and beef tartare sushi?
The salmon onion sushi was topped generously with thinly sliced onion and was perfectly fine.

The beef sashimi sushi and salmon sushi weren't anything special either, just decent.

The red king shrimp sushi had a nice plump shrimp texture, with green roe alongside. I had a salmon cream cheese roll too.
The beef tartare (yukhoe) sushi, on the other hand, was hit or miss for me. (I didn't like it!) The fishy smell felt a bit strong and didn't suit me, but people who usually like beef tartare may feel differently.

How does QR ordering work at Mikado Sushi Pyeongtaek Station Branch?
You order with the QR code at your seat and the staff bring it to you. Eating only from the belt felt limited, so I tried QR ordering, and it came out faster and more conveniently than I expected. Why didn't I use it sooner!.. Strangely, even when ordering is possible, I only end up grabbing sushi from the belt. Is there anyone else like me? Hahaha

I also tried the bluefin tuna belly sushi I ordered by QR. Of course~ I should assume it's frozen, but maybe I'm just too greedy. Haha. My boyfriend and I each ate one, sharing nicely, as our last bites.

This looks like the aged kimchi fresh fish sushi? that my boyfriend ate, and I wish I'd ordered some fresh fish or flounder too. (Oh.. looking at it now, one of my boyfriend's eyebrow hairs fell into the dish^^; It was served clean at the shop, I promise!)

Named-source flounder and sea bream: order by QR if not on the belt
The reason I felt that way is something I learned afterward: Mikado Sushi Pyeongtaek Station Branch runs a named-source system for flounder and sea bream. The notice said they use large Wando flounder of 3 kg or more, bought and prepped the same day. They even show the receipts to prove freshness, so honestly I felt a bit sorry I didn't try the flounder or sea bream this time. (I didn't see them on the belt T_T) If you're planning a visit, don't just eat from the belt like me, use QR ordering to get what you want!

How much are desserts and drinks?
Desserts come on plates too, so they're a flat ₩2,100. There's fruit jelly and sweet potato cake! You can even finish with dessert.. I had one chocolate macaron.

The drink prices were impressive too. All alcohol is ₩3,900!! Draft beer is ₩2,100, so it looked easy to have a light drink with sushi. I ordered one bottle of Terra beer.

Who is Mikado Sushi Pyeongtaek Station Branch for?
I finished with one bottle of Terra, and it went nicely with the sushi. Rather than comparing it with premium omakase or upscale sushi places, Mikado Sushi Pyeongtaek Station Branch is a good-value sushi train where you can enjoy many kinds of sushi at an easy price. Personally, satisfaction varied by dish and some were hit or miss, but the flat ₩2,100 price, the many amenities and the great access felt like clear strengths. It's worth a visit for a student date or a casual day with friends, when you want to try lots of kinds without worrying about the bill.
