Sadang sashimi bar sunlit at 5pm: gwangban-yuksa and Terra, Susan
In short
Susan Sadang Main Branch is an aged sashimi and beef tartare izakaya 268m from Exit 7 of Sadang Station in Dongjak, Seoul. On a Saturday at 5pm, a sunlit table inside came with gwangban-yuksa — half aged flounder sashimi, half 1++ Korean beef yuksashimi — a bottle of Terra beer and a welcome glass of sake. Susan Sadang Main Branch is nearly full by about 6pm on weekends, so arriving early is the smart move.

It's been a while since I left Suwon, but I had plans in Sadang, so off I went! I got my caffeine fix first after arriving, and before dinner I wanted a light drink-and-snack session, so I looked up good sashimi bars in Sadang — and Susan caught my eye! ⭐️Gwangban-yuksa⭐️

Where is Susan Sadang Main Branch, and what are its hours?

Walking around Sadang Station, I noticed there are seriously so many sashimi bars haha. I love sashimi bars anyway, so Susan's poster totally caught my eye! Look at that raw shrimp sashimi visual,,,,! It's genuinely mouthwatering ㅠㅠㅠ

Saturday 5pm at Susan Sadang: sunlit seats inside
I got there at 5pm on Saturday, and there were still a few people inside at that point — but by the time I left, it was pretty much full! Seems like everyone comes for dinner with drinks and seafood. I love that afternoon sunlight, and it was streaming in just right, which made the inside vibe of Susan feel really nice.

Susan has tendon oden (beef tendon stew) as a signature menu item, so every table has its own burner! They also have a mala version of the tendon oden — I wanted to try that next time haha. Today I decided it was gwangban-yuksa only, so I passed,,,

There were wet wipes at the table and they were so cute ㅠㅠㅠ I wanted to keep one,,,haha

You just scan the QR code at the table and the menu pops up, so ordering is super convenient!
What's on the menu at Susan Sadang, from sashimi to highballs

- Half-portion yuksa (aged sashimi + beef tartare)
- Plain yukhoe (beef tartare)
- Miso oden
- Tendon oden (beef tendon stew)
- Mala tendon oden
- Yukhoe maki
- Ankimo maki (monkfish liver)
- Sweet shrimp buckwheat noodles
- Chicken nanban
- Mentaiko cream udon
Everything on this menu looked so good, I wanted to order it all — but I held back,,,!

I love highballs whenever I go to a bar, so this highball menu caught my eye! Su-highball: Suntory + orange San-highball: Suntory + green apple Double-shot Su-highball: double-shot Suntory + orange Double-shot San-highball: double-shot Suntory + green apple Whale sake

As a welcome drink(?) they served sake in this fancy-looking(?) glass!

A round table with a chair that has a backrest, inside seating — and since the weather was nice that day, they had the door open, making it the perfect day for drinks!

How does gwangban-yuksa taste with a bottle of Terra beer?
I ordered gwangban-yuksa plus a bottle of Terra beer! How could you not order it after seeing this visual!

Owner, seriously,,,! Letting me have something this delicious split half-and-half! A 'half-half' collab of chewy aged flounder sashimi and 1++ Korean beef yukhoe!

Having seafood this good with beer right before dinner for once made me so happy haha

Mayonnaise-y? aged kimchi came out alongside, so I wrapped the flounder and aged kimchi in gim (seaweed) and ate it that way!

I really love beef yukhoe, and it was cut into perfect bite-sized pieces with a good thickness — the chewy texture was incredible,,,!

The texture was properly chewy, exactly the kind of bite I love. I don't usually drink much, but with snacks this good the beer just kept going down smoothly!

I got to enjoy flounder too, which I love so much haha — flounder with vinegared red pepper paste and wasabi~!

This aged kimchi is genuinely amazing! Great to eat alongside 👍🏻

Beef yukhoe I could seriously eat every day, so good haha

What to know before visiting Susan Sadang Main Branch on a weekend
For a good Sadang sashimi bar, I'd recommend Susan Sadang Main Branch and the gwangban-yuksa as a drinking snack! If you come around 6pm on a weekend, you might have to wait.
