Today I had plans with three friends around Jonggak, so we went to Jangheon Gamjatang Jonggak! It's newly opened, so the place is super clean and the staff were so kind. Total recommendation ❤️
Where is Jangheon Gamjatang Jonggak, and what are its hours?
Jangheon Gamjatang Jonggak is at 23 Jongno 12-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the basement level. It's open daily 10:00-22:00 and closed every Sunday.

It's close to Jonggak Station, and I walked a bit further from Jongno 3-ga! From Jongno 3-ga it takes about 13 minutes haha.

Is it a good place for a group dinner in Jongno?
Because it's newly opened, the inside is so, so clean 🥹✨ I think it would be great for a company dinner in Jongno too! It looked really tidy and fresh haha.
They also have single-serving gamjatang, so it seems good for lunch too haha. I've never had braised pork back bones (deungppyeo-jjim) and I really want to try it,,

Jangheon Gamjatang menu and price for 4 people
The menu at Jangheon Gamjatang Jonggak has just 3 items: gamjatang, braised pork back bones and pork bone hot pot, and you can add extra noodles and other add-ins to taste! Prices differ a little by size. Here's what the four of us ordered.
- Gamjatang (large) ₩39,000
- Extra noodles ₩2,000
- Extra ramen noodles ₩2,000
- Fish roe fried rice ₩4,000
- Total ₩47,000
Isn't a large gamjatang for that price really cheap..? 🫶🏻💖

Side dishes are self-serve, and the kimchi and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) were really delicious ❤️

They have disposable aprons too, so it was easy to eat comfortably haha.

The basic glass noodles come in a good amount, so I don't think you need to add extra noodles!!

How were the taste and portion of the large gamjatang?
Ta-da ✨ The look of Jangheon's gamjatang is amazing 🫶🏻 The staff told us to eat some once the noodles are cooked, then add the rest of the noodles afterward!
The sauce was soy sauce and wasabi already mixed together, and you just pour it into your small plate.

They put in the extra ramen noodles too! ❤️ And so the time of patience begins again,, 🥹

The broth wasn't too strong at all, just really clean and mild! It's the kind of gamjatang that seems perfect as a hangover cure haha.

The glass noodles were soft and tasty, and there was lots of ugeoji (dried cabbage leaves) and perilla leaves, which was really good! The nutty perilla seed flavor goes so well with it 🫶🏻

The meat was cooked tender with no gamey smell at all, and dipping it in the sauce was so good!! 🩷 I don't have a photo of the sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes), but they were totally chewy and delicious too ㅠ ❤️

So many noodles and add-ins, right 💖 There were also 9 big bones! We each ate 2 and still had one left, haha. Even so, we were so full. Stuffed to bursting for just over ₩10,000 each, isn't that great?! ❤️ The potatoes were also totally fluffy and yummy!

Do you have to order the fish roe fried rice?
The fish roe fried rice at Jangheon Gamjatang is ₩4,000, and you really can't skip fried rice, can you ㅜㅜ

The staff scoop out what's inside and fry it up for you with care!!

It looks so good, right,, 😍

The popping texture of the fish roe with the ugeoji vegetables was a dream 🥹 As you keep eating, it gets crispy like nurungji (scorched rice), and the staff scrape it up for you. It was honestly so good,, and eating it with the kkakdugi is the best combo!! ❤️

How was the service at Jangheon Gamjatang Jonggak?
While frying the rice, it got a slight burnt smell because of our own mistake, but they gave us a fresh serving on the house ㅜㅠ They were so kind that I was grateful the whole meal,, 🥹🩷
To finish, they even gave us dental floss haha. Full marks for thoughtfulness,, you know you have to get the perilla seed bits out of your teeth lol.
The scene of excavating the gamjatang bones hahaha. I was so full that I left just a tiny bit,, 🥲
Huge portions, delicious, and super kind staff: Jangheon Gamjatang Jonggak is a great gamjatang spot in Jonggak! I highly recommend it for a company dinner, and for a group meetup like mine too!! ❤️
