Moshi Moshi Sushi menu: Sushi Hansang, Hoe Hansang and assorted sushi compared

The signature sets at Moshi Moshi Sushi in Dongnae are the Sushi Hansang and the Hoe Hansang. The Sushi Hansang comes with 8 pieces of sushi plus tempura, udon, vegetable salad and tofu salad, and the Hoe Hansang adds sashimi to that.

Looking through the menu, there were set meals that let you enjoy a good variety of sushi and sashimi. The headliners were the Sushi Hansang and the Hoe Hansang.

The Sushi Hansang has 8 pieces of sushi with tempura, udon, vegetable salad and tofu salad. The Hoe Hansang adds fresh sashimi on top, so it seemed ideal for anyone who wants raw fish and sushi together.

Another fun detail: you can choose between "good" (좋은거) and "better" (더 좋은거). Even for the same menu item, you can pick the quality level of the sushi, so you can order to your taste.

On the other hand, if you want to focus more on the quality of the fish, the assorted sushi sets looked like a good choice. They don't include udon, but the sushi lineup feels a notch more upgraded.

After some agonizing, I ordered Set C. The Sushi Hansang was tempting enough, but I wanted more variety and more sushi itself. Sets B and C looked similar in their basic lineup, but C seemed to use slightly better ingredients, so I went with it.

What were the lineup and taste of Set C like?

Set C at Moshi Moshi Sushi comes with 10 pieces of sushi on a big plate, every one with a different topping: white fish, salmon, eel, shrimp, beef tartare and abalone. The beef tartare sushi and abalone sushi were the most memorable.

The moment the food arrived, the looks alone grabbed me. Ten pieces of sushi were neatly arranged on a large plate, and you could feel the freshness just by looking. Each piece had a different topping, so I was excited about the flavors before I even took a bite.

The set included white fish, salmon, eel, shrimp, beef tartare, abalone and more. Even though it's all sushi, each topping had its own texture and flavor, so there wasn't a boring moment from start to finish.

Beef tartare sushi and abalone sushi

The most memorable were the beef tartare sushi and the abalone sushi. The beef tartare sushi had a generous helping of tender tartare, with a nutty richness the more you chewed, and it went really well with the rice. The rice balanced out the richness of the tartare nicely, so I ate it happily.

The abalone sushi was better than I expected too. It kept that signature chewiness of abalone without being tough, and the more I chewed, the more a mild sea aroma and nuttiness came through. I already like abalone, and this was among the most satisfying pieces of the set.

Eel sushi and shrimp sushi

The eel sushi balanced its sweet-salty sauce with a tender texture, and the shrimp sushi had a lovely springy bite. Overall the freshness of each topping came through and the rice was seasoned just right, so I enjoyed it to the very last piece. After eating, I could see why so many people come to Moshi Moshi Sushi.

What about the tempura and tofu salad that come with it?

Set C came with shrimp, sweet pumpkin and sweet potato tempura, clear soup, cabbage salad and tofu salad. Of the sides, the tofu salad was the best.

The tempura served with the sushi was satisfying too. It was shrimp, sweet pumpkin and sweet potato, and the crunch was great, like it had just come out of the fryer.

The shrimp tempura in particular was moist inside and crispy outside, perfect alongside the sushi. It felt less like a simple side and more like a proper dish of its own.

The clear soup and cabbage salad served with the meal were clean and pleasant, but personally my favorite side was the tofu salad. The tofu was so soft it practically melted in my mouth, and it went well with the vegetables on top.

I never expected a tofu salad at a sushi place to be this good, so it was a surprise highlight. It felt like they cared about the sides as much as the mains, which made the meal even more satisfying.
