I went to Pujim Gopchang Magoknaru Branch (푸짐곱창 마곡나루점) for dinner with my brother, who had moved to Magoknaru. The two of us ordered the Pujim Half Platter and added bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles); with the different cuts and hot pot, it was a filling meal.

How did I get there from Magoknaru Station?

I left Magoknaru Station on Line 9 through Exit 2 and followed a map app. The restaurant is on the first floor of Building C, 161-8 Magokjungang-ro, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, and it was easy to find because it is close to the station.

At the time the original post was written, the listed hours were 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., with last orders at 10:30 p.m. It was listed as having no regular closing day.

What was the atmosphere like around 7 p.m.?

When I arrived around 7 p.m., there were so many diners that I nearly could not get a seat. There were couples and families, as well as tables that seemed to be groups of coworkers. I had reserved in advance, and the table was neatly set when I arrived.

What did we order for two?

There were two sets: the Pujim Full Platter and the Pujim Half Platter. Since there were two of us, we chose the Pujim Half Platter. It included gopchang (beef small intestine), teukyang (beef tripe), makchang (beef large intestine), daechang (beef large intestine), yeomtong (beef heart), and a mini gopchang jeongol (intestine hot pot). I thought the Full Platter would be a good order for four people.

À la carte options included gopchang, makchang, yeomtong, teukyang, daechang, and chadolbagi (thinly sliced beef brisket), along with gopchang bulgogi and gopchang jeongol. Side dishes included spicy ramen, bibim guksu, yeolmu naengguksu (young-radish cold noodle soup), kimchi rice balls, fried rice, a mini hot pot, and extra cheese. Korean beef tongue was listed as available in limited quantities.

After we sat down, the side dishes were brought to our table. We ordered the Pujim Half Platter first, then added bibim guksu later.

Did we have to grill the intestines ourselves?

The Pujim Half Platter arrived par-grilled, and a staff member cut and grilled each piece in front of us. It was convenient not to have to judge the cooking ourselves.

The staff member made sure we ate the cuts that were cooked first. Eating them right away, I liked their chewy texture.

They said the cooked cuts could become tough if left longer, so they set them aside for us. They also added buchu (garlic chives), which I ate with the intestines and dipped in sauce.

How were the portion and variety in the half platter?

The mini gopchang jeongol included with the set also arrived. It went well with the grilled items, and I felt it would pair well as a drinking snack too.

Although it was the half platter, the portion was generous. From gopchang to teukyang, makchang, daechang, and yeomtong, each cut felt different to eat, so I did not get tired of it. I did not notice any unpleasant smell while eating, and I also liked changing up the sauces and side dishes.

Did the added bibim guksu go well with the grilled intestines?

The bibim guksu was generously portioned and tangy, so it went well with the grilled intestines. I also felt the price was not burdensome. With the Pujim Half Platter and bibim guksu, the two of us were more than full.
