Wanting to eat plenty of eel, I visited Songnim Bok Jangeo Unlimited Freshwater Eel, Wolpi-dong (송림복장어민물장어무한리필 월피동) in Wolpi-dong, Ansan. I ordered two unlimited-eel servings and grilled pork belly and chicken neck meat between bites of eel.
Can I park if I drive?
The restaurant is at 13 Yesulgwangjang-ro, Sangnok-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It has dedicated parking in front, which made visiting by car convenient. The original post listed its hours as 11:00–22:00.
Is it suitable for family gatherings or larger groups?
Once inside, the space felt larger than it looked from outside. The tables were spaced generously and the whole restaurant was neatly arranged. There seemed to be plenty of seating, making it a suitable size not only for family meals but also for gatherings with friends or company dinners.
How much is unlimited eel, and are there extra charges?
At the time of my visit, unlimited eel was ₩29,900 per person. I ordered two servings, and there was a separate ₩3,000 table-setting fee. However, the original post does not state whether the table-setting fee was charged per person or per table.
What is included, and how do I get more food?
The initial serving came with side dishes, eel, pork belly, and chicken neck meat. After that, I took as much as I needed from the self-service bar. It was convenient to add pork belly or chicken neck meat whenever I wanted something other than more eel.
During my visit, I received bokbunja-ju (Korean black raspberry wine) as an opening-event complimentary drink and started the meal with a light glass.
How were the eel and its accompaniments?
The eel was thick and had a satisfying chew. While the outside browned nicely on the grill, the flesh inside was springy and tender. When I ate it, I noticed almost no fishiness or unpleasant odor.
For my first bite, I dipped it lightly in salt. I personally liked how clearly the eel's nutty flavor came through on its own. I then ate it with the house sauce and shredded ginger; the sweet sauce and the sharp aroma of ginger seemed to refresh the eel's rich flavor.
How were the pork belly and chicken neck meat?
The pork belly had bright red lean meat with a balanced amount of fat. Grilled until golden on the griddle, the balance between the mild lean meat and fat was good. The chicken neck meat was chewy and springy, so it was nice to alternate with the tender eel.
What did I like most about this meal?
What I liked most was being able to switch between different foods in one sitting. Eating the eel with salt, shredded ginger, and sauce, then grilling pork belly and chicken neck meat in between, kept the meal from feeling repetitive. Since I could add as much eel as I wanted, it is a place I would remember when I want a generous meal of eel alongside other grilled meats.
