My favorite solo-dining spot around Sadang and Isu: Kosi, an Isu Station favorite. It is such a good restaurant for eating alone at lunch or dinner near Isu Station that I have already visited at least 10 times for solo meals.

It specializes in tonkatsu and udon near Isu Station, making its noodles in-house, so the noodles are especially incredible. It is also a place that does tonkatsu really, really well.

The dinner rush and solo-dining seats

This Isu Station lunch and dinner spot always has a wait during peak hours. When I visited around dinnertime, every seat but one was taken.

Tori Ten Bukkake Udon (cold udon topped with chicken tempura) + extra tonkatsu. After visiting Kosi near Isu Station more than 10 times, this is my absolute favorite combination. Kosi's best-selling Tori Ten Bukkake Udon comes with tonkatsu, and I strongly recommend this set because cold udon and fried dishes go so well together.

Udon meal set with yubu sushi

Kosi is great for solo dining near Isu Station because even alone, you can have a filling meal. Even with a whole tableful like this, it costs only ₩16,000—such amazingly generous value. When you order an udon menu item at Kosi, yubu sushi (seasoned fried-tofu rice pockets) comes free, so it helps fill the rice part of your stomach too.

Kosi cold udon menu

I have tried all three—cold udon, hot udon, and kama udon—but personally, cold udon is my favorite. The springy, chewy texture of the noodles comes through even more.

Basic cold udon is only ₩9,000, making this Isu Station favorite overflowing with value.

It is an udon place, but the tonkatsu is the real deal too

I strongly recommend adding tonkatsu. It is among the best tonkatsu I have had near Isu Station. People seem to order lots of udon because they think Kosi is an udon specialist, but the tonkatsu here is the real deal too. The slightly pink meat inside is so tender and delicious.

That is why I also strongly recommend Kosi as a tonkatsu spot near Isu Station.

They also sell standalone tonkatsu dishes, making it a good place for solo dining near Isu Station. For another menu item, I ordered the cheese tonkatsu: four plump pieces packed with cheese, rich and delicious. Kosi really nails fried food, which is why I always ordered karaage with my cold udon too. The cheese tonkatsu at Kosi was fried to just the right degree as well. The coating was neither too thin nor too thick—just right.

Sweet potato cheese croquette side dish

The sweet potato cheese croquette I ordered as a side was also so good. It was packed to bursting with sweet potato, so this sweet-potato lover was happy! It was not cheap-tasting cheese sweet potato at all; it was genuinely delicious, with a wonderful, savory sweet potato-and-cheese combination.
