Sadang bar 15-dish drinking course: Jindallae Silbi

In short

Jindallae Silbi Sadang Branch is a Korean pub near Sadang Station in Dongjak, Seoul. My boyfriend and I worked through its 15-dish ₩39,000-per-person course, from porridge and sashimi to steamed seafood, pork cutlet, and pancakes, alongside four bottles of soju. Verdict: an incredibly filling choice when you want first, second, and third rounds in one stop.

There were lots of tables, so it looked great for group gatherings too. Seeing the countless empty bottles piled up, I thought, okay, this place is the real deal.

Rice and ramen noodles are unlimited and free too, so there was no way we'd be going home hungry haha.

First spread of the Jindallae Silbi drinking course

The first spread was laid out. It already looked incredibly generous just like this, but apparently more main dishes were coming... It was mainly Korean dishes that make excellent drinking snacks!

The first spread, starting with porridge and soy-marinated crab

The porridge was nutty and not overly seasoned—delicious for protecting your stomach before drinking, or for taking a bite between the other dishes. The soy-marinated crab was big, meaty, and seriously delicious. My boyfriend was genuinely shocked, asking why the soy-marinated crab was this good!

The japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) also got the appetite going and was easy to slurp up as a drinking snack. The pink sausage was a snack my boyfriend loved! When drinking, these simple, familiar-tasting snacks are just the best.

Silken tofu with scallion soy sauce—there is no way that combination could be bad. I ate the sweet-and-sour sole without much expectation, but the freshly fried fish was warm and so delicious.

The bossam (boiled pork wraps) was tender, properly cooked with no odor, and paired with delicious kimchi, so I enjoyed it so much!

The odolppyeo (spicy pork cartilage) was done properly too haha. It was spicy, crunchy, and delicious, so I kept reaching for it. While we were eating the first round of snacks, new main dishes kept arriving!

Sashimi that tasted even better than at a sashimi restaurant

Then sashimi came out too, and for a table for two it was unbelievably plentiful. And this was not bar-quality sashimi... it tasted even better than what I've had at a sashimi restaurant! It was wonderfully chewy and packed with umami. They also gave us sushi rice seasoned with vinegar, seaweed, aged kimchi, and roasted seaweed, so we made our own sushi and enjoyed every bit.

Steamed whole squid, clams, and shrimp

Another dish that surprised me: steamed whole squid, clams, and shrimp! Everything was nicely steamed, so both the squid and clams were tender. This was plentiful too and perfect with soju, so we ordered another bottle~ As we ate the seafood, we started craving something rich and fried again.

Final course dishes: pork cutlet and chive pancake

As if they knew what I was thinking, pork cutlet and squid chive pancake soon arrived. The pork cutlet was not frozen or cheap—it was a thick whole-cut pork cutlet with tender meat, and it was really delicious haha. It had the feel of a homemade pork cutlet. I was so full, but I still kept sneaking bites.

The squid chive pancake had just a little flour and loads of squid and chives, so it was crispy and delicious ㅠㅠ The kind of thing that still goes down even when you're full.

They were also going to bring spicy fish stew, fruit, and additional snacks depending on the situation... but we'd drunk too much and were too full, so we tapped out... I really can't eat any more, boss ㅠㅠ That is the kind of silbi house this is. You all have to make it to the end!

My boyfriend and I visited Jindallae Silbi, a Sadang bar where the snacks come as a course. Every single dish was even tastier than I expected, and because it handles first, second, and third rounds in one place, I recommend it for pre-wedding gatherings, group outings, or dates!
