Ansan Korean restaurant for family set meals: Yeongwolae Gondre

When I want to enjoy a proper, neatly prepared Korean set meal in Ansan, Yeongwolae Gondre Ansan Branch is the first place that comes to mind. The food, the spread, and even the atmosphere were all satisfying, so I could really see why it is counted among Ansan's well-known Korean restaurants.

Location and parking at Yeongwolae Gondre Ansan Branch

It is on the second floor of Gojan Praum City, 33 Dangok-ro, Danwon-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Hours are 10:40–20:50, and I loved that the parking lot was spacious with 2 hours of parking support, too!!!

It is on the second floor of the Gojan Praum City building, so it is easy to find and very accessible. The large parking lot was great, too!

Right from the entrance, the “Ansan favorite restaurant” sign and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety hygiene-grade certification marked “Excellent” stood out. Even before eating, it gave me a real sense of cleanliness and trust.

A spacious dining room and baby chairs

Inside, a tidy, comfortable wood-toned interior welcomes you. The space is roomy and well divided with partitions, making it a perfect setting for family gatherings, company dinners, or bringing your parents along.

We arrived around 11 a.m., practically right at opening, but I was surprised to see quite a few diners already eating. There may be a wait during meal times, so I recommend coming a little early. There are also plenty of baby chairs on one side of the restaurant, so parents dining with young children can eat comfortably.

Yeongwol Murungdowon Set for two

Among the many full-table meal options, we chose the signature set: the “Yeongwol Murungdowon Set,” an assorted full-table meal for two.

As soon as the table was set, it became such a generous spread that my jaw practically dropped! From the mains to the basic side dishes, everything was wonderfully substantial.

Spicy pork, grilled mackerel, and homestyle thick soybean paste stew

The savory, sweet-and-spicy stir-fried pork had a lovely smoky aroma and was the ultimate rice thief. The golden, crisp grilled mackerel was moist and mild inside, pairing perfectly with the gondre rice (rice cooked with Korean thistle). Add the hearty homestyle gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste stew), and I simply could not put my spoon down.

Wrap vegetables and basic side dishes

Such a variety of fresh wrap vegetables came with the meal, and it was so fun to make big wraps with the pork and gangdoenjang.

Each neatly served side dish—from seasoned vegetables and japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) to lotus root—was clean-tasting and not overly seasoned. It felt like being treated to a wholesome meal.

The gondre rice, deeply infused with the herb's aroma, was savory and tender with every bite. Eating it with warm seaweed soup made me feel comfortably full.

Finishing with sikhye and maesil tea

After our filling meal, we could round things off perfectly with sikhye (sweet rice drink) and maesil tea (plum tea) prepared at the self-service corner.

The sweet, chilled sikhye and the maesil tea, which refreshed the palate so nicely, made for a happy finish to the meal.

From the tidy, generous spread and friendly service to the pleasant space, everything at Yeongwolae Gondre Ansan Branch was perfect! If you want a truly satisfying, filling meal of Korean food, be sure to visit at least once.
