Suwon Station private-room bar with weekend booking: Manseokjip

In short

Manseokjip Suwon Station Branch is a gastropub where every seat is a private room, on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a building on Rodeo Square, a 4-minute walk from Suwon Station in Suwon, Gyeonggi. After booking through Naver for a weekend evening, the writer and a friend walked straight in without waiting. They ordered whole watermelon punch and charcoal-grilled seasoned makchang (pork intestines) from the in-room kiosk. Manseokjip Suwon Station Branch is a good Suwon Station bar for talking and drinking without worrying about the next table.

Table of drinks and food in a Manseokjip Suwon Station Branch room

You know those days after work when you just want a cold drink? 😆 This time I went looking for a Suwon Station bar with a friend and ended up at Manseokjip Suwon Station Branch, which has great vibes and comfortable rooms.

Location and weekend booking for Manseokjip Suwon Station Branch

Manseokjip Suwon Station Branch is about a 4-minute walk from Suwon Station, so it's easy to get to, and it's on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Rodeo Square building, so it wasn't hard to find either.

2nd floor entrance counter at Manseokjip Suwon Station Branch

I booked in advance through Naver before visiting. Going up to the 2nd floor, there was a counter right there, so after confirming the reservation we got seated with no wait at all. There were a lot of guests since it was the weekend, so I was really glad I'd made a reservation. 👍 The location is great for meeting up in Suwon too, so it was perfect for hanging out with friends.

All-private-room seating

Private room with a window and open feel

This is the part I liked most! There were rooms with windows that felt open, and a variety of fully independent, dark rooms too.

Private room seating at Manseokjip Suwon Station Branch

Since every single room at Manseokjip Suwon Station Branch is private, you can talk and drink comfortably without worrying about the table next to you. It'd be great for a date, and also fine for a friend gathering or a company dinner. So it's somewhere I want to confidently recommend to anyone looking for a Suwon Station bar!

Smoking room set up inside the building

Indoor smoking room and time limits

Something that seemed convenient for smokers is that there's a separate smoking room inside the building. Not having to go down and back up from the 2nd floor was surprisingly nice.

Notice explaining room time limits

There was a notice posted inside the room. If there are no waiting guests, the time is unlimited! Even with waiting guests, you get a generous 2 hours 30 minutes, which was plenty!

Menu board and in-room kiosk ordering

Menu board showing chicken, pasta and dried snacks

Ordering is done through the kiosk in each room, so there's no need to call a staff member over, which was nice. The menu was laid out clearly too, so it was easy to choose. Just looking at the soup section, there was

  • Gopdoritang (spicy braised chicken and rice cake stew)
  • Dak Han Mari Kalguksu (whole chicken with knife-cut noodles)
  • Dakdoritang (spicy braised chicken stew)
  • Odeng-tang (fish cake soup)
  • Eomuk Kimchi Udon (fish cake and kimchi udon)

This much variety, and there was also grilled makchang, jeyuk (spicy stir-fried pork), yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), golbaengi somyeon (whelk salad with thin noodles), dakgalbi, plus fried chicken, pasta and dried snacks, so it was easy to order to your taste. There were so many side dish options that it felt like you could come back multiple times and never get bored.

The kiosk also has a drinking game or king's game draw feature, and doing that once in a while was pretty fun lol

Stole the show visually from the start!

Ordered side dishes laid out on the room table

Before long, our ordered side dishes arrived. The visuals were such that you couldn't not take a photo!!

Whole watermelon punch 🍉

Whole watermelon punch served in a halved watermelon

The first dish to arrive was the whole watermelon punch! A watermelon cut in half, filled with round scooped-out watermelon balls — it passed the visual test right away. 😍 It really photographed beautifully.

Inside there was ice and Milkis, so one cool sip cooled you down to the core! It was great for taking a bite in between drinks, and since the watermelon was so sweet I kept reaching for more. My friend and I kept saying 'we chose so well today!' as we kept digging in. 😂 It went really well with soju too, so I hope you order it if you visit in summer.

Charcoal-grilled seasoned makchang was fully satisfying too

A plate of charcoal-grilled seasoned makchang

The second dish was the charcoal-grilled seasoned makchang. A subtle smoky char rose up and the seasoning was evenly coated, so it made my mouth water just looking at it. The makchang wasn't chewy in a tough way but had a nice springy texture that kept me eating! Best of all, there was zero gamey smell, so makchang lovers should be satisfied.

Seasoned makchang served with mayonnaise sauce

The seasoning wasn't too spicy and had good savory depth, so it went really well as a drinking snack. Dipping it in the mayonnaise sauce that came with it added a different charm, and eating it together with the chive salad made for a really great combination.

Honestly, the chive salad was so good I wanted a refill haha. Every single dish had good quality, so it made sense why this place is called one of the best food spots among Suwon Station bars.
