My husband got off work and I couldn't be bothered to cook dinner, so tonight we were eating out! I wondered what to have, and my naengsam (frozen pork belly BBQ) cooldown had just run out, so off we went to Dasan New Town with my husband for some~

We got there at 7 on a Friday evening and were the first customers, but by the time we left a wait was starting to form 😳

Kiosk ordering and table guide at Eungbongjip Dasan Station Branch

Is Eungbongjip Dasan Station Branch okay with kids?

You order at Eungbongjip Dasan Station Branch by kiosk, and with a Naver receipt review you could get either a keyring draw or a glass of highball. Maybe because it's a naengsam place in Dasan New Town, lots of people seem to bring kids: for little ones they had seaweed, spoon-and-chopstick sets, water cups and high chairs, everything ready so you can come with a child without any hassle!

Basic table setting and extra side dishes

Paper-wrapped spoon and chopstick sets at Eungbongjip

Barley tea came out first, and while sipping it I went to set out the spoons and chopsticks, which were each wrapped in paper, so it felt hygienic~

Side dishes at Eungbongjip including kimchi, steamed egg and ssam vegetables

The side dishes were basics like salt and wasabi, plus kimchi, steamed egg and ssam (wrap) vegetables. Minari (water dropwort) is ₩3,000 extra and steamed egg ₩1,000 extra, so it's easy to add a little if you want.

Eungbongjip 3-serving set of frozen flower pork neck and pork belly

Frozen flower pork neck vs pork belly: how do they taste?

The flower pork neck at Eungbongjip was thinner, so it was tender and soft, while the pork belly was a bit thicker with more chew. Soon the star of the show arrived~ A staff member put the first meat on the grill, and after that we grilled it ourselves.

Since it's naengsam, it cooks quickly, so we could eat right as it went on, which was great~ The flower pork neck, being thinner, was clearly tender and a bit fatty, soft and silky, while the pork belly was a bit thicker than the neck, so it had more chew. The two are different in texture, so eating them together never got boring and we kept going 😋

Grilled naengsam served with wraps and sauces

I loved lettuce wraps with wasabi, or dipping the meat in soy sauce with a beaten egg, while my husband liked eating meat with minari. And true to being a guy from Daegu in Gyeongsang province, he skips the rice when he eats meat.

Eungbongjip spicy soft tofu stew in a big earthenware pot

Finishing with spicy soft tofu stew and cold noodles

The spicy soft tofu stew (₩9,000) at Eungbongjip came out boiling in a big earthenware pot and stayed hot until we finished the rice, with plenty of ingredients. I'm the type who has to have rice and stew with meat, so I ordered soft tofu stew again today, and when it first came out it was honestly like lava 🔥 Maybe because of the big pot, it stayed hot the whole meal, and there was way more in it than I expected, so I couldn't finish it and left some ㅠㅠ

Eungbongjip cold noodles eaten to finish after the meat

He, who doesn't eat rice, ordered mul naengmyeon (cold noodles) as a dessert after the meat, and said it was cool and clean, just right for finishing after meat~ I wanted kkakdugi fried rice for the first time in a while, but I was too full, so I'm saving that challenge for next time 🥲

Mint candies at the Eungbongjip counter

When we paid and left at the end, there were candies too, so I walked out with a mint candy in my mouth 🍬

Overall verdict on Eungbongjip Dasan Station Branch

At Eungbongjip Dasan Station Branch the naengsam cooks fast so it was easy to eat, and the meat quality and taste were decent. It's not easy to find a BBQ place where you can grill with a baby, and the kids' items were well stocked, so it seems like a place where you can eat comfortably with a child! The staff were friendly and the restaurant was clean overall, so it was a pleasant meal 😊 It's a good naengsam place for a casual night out, so when you crave naengsam, come to Eungbongjip in Dasan!
