Sarugak20, a Japanese curry restaurant near Jeonpo Station
For a hearty meal in a warm atmosphere, I picked this place for today’s menu. While looking for a lunch spot in Jeonpo, Sarugak20, a Japanese curry specialist, caught my eye 🍛
It’s a 4-minute walk from Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station!

Head up the hill and into the alley, and you’ll find Sarugak20 quietly tucked away. At the entrance, there’s a staircase leading down—just follow it to the basement 🔽

A look around the wood-toned space and little decor pieces
As soon as I went downstairs, the cute little decor pieces caught my eye, and they were so fun to browse. The wood-toned interior gives the whole place a warm feel 🚪 You can buy the decor items too, so have a look around.

Along with tables for two to four, there’s a table for six, so it seems like a nice place to come with a group!

There’s counter seating too, so it seems perfectly nice for a comfortable solo meal.

Rather than feeling overly decorated, everything was naturally placed one by one.

It’s such a cozy space with a lovely atmosphere, so it would be great for a date too ✨

The curries and grapefruit juice I ordered
- Special Curry ₩12,000
- Brisket Cream Curry ₩11,000
- Half-and-Half Curry ₩10,000
- Grapefruit Juice ₩2,500

The owner kindly explained that there was lime water and green tea water at the front too 🍋🟩🍵

The side dish was kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), which goes so well with curry.

While waiting for the food, the grapefruit juice arrived first. It was tangy, with grapefruit’s distinctive pleasant bitterness, and felt like a real appetite opener 🍹

I loved that there were so many kinds of curry to choose from depending on your taste :) Each curry had its own charm, and every dish arrived looking so neat.

Curry and rice refills are available too, so there’s no need to worry about not having enough! The curry and rice went together so well that before I knew it, I had finished a whole bowl.

Special curry topped with a poached egg, sausage, and cheese
The Special Curry combines a poached egg, sausage, and cheese.

The warm aroma was so tempting that even while taking photos, I wanted to dig in right away.

The bouncy sausage and softly melted cheese with the rich curry flavor made for such a savory, satisfying bite ◡̈⋆*

Cream curry loaded with brisket
The Brisket Cream Curry came generously topped with brisket.

The curry was neither watery nor overly thick—just the right consistency to spoon up comfortably.

The cream curry was smooth and creamy, with the rich, nutty flavor of the brisket coming through too.

Pile plenty of curry onto the rice and take a bite with kkakdugi—the crisp texture and pleasantly tangy, refreshing flavor make it just right alongside curry!

Half-and-half curry for two flavors at once
The Half-and-Half Curry paired cream curry with the house special curry, so I could taste two curries at once.

I recommend it when there are so many curries that you can’t decide, or when you want to try two flavors! They also sell frozen curry, available to buy in person as well as by delivery, so keep that in mind ꔛ
It’s a great place in Jeonpo for both a nice atmosphere and a warm bowl of curry, so I think anyone looking for a meal near Jeonpo Station should pay it a visit!
