Chat Baker, a brunch café in Gongdo, Anseong, main photo

While looking for a café with a great atmosphere in Anseong, I found one I really liked: Chat Baker. I'm usually happy if a café just has good coffee, but at Chat Baker I loved everything, from the space to the brunch to the bakery. After visiting in person, I understand why so many people recommend it as a brunch café in Gongdo, Anseong. I can confidently recommend it to anyone looking for a large café in Pyeongtaek and Anseong, or a café near Anseong Farmland.

Where is Chat Baker in Gongdo, and is parking easy?

Chat Baker is inside Gongdo 512 Square, and the parking lot is so big that I had zero parking worries. If you're looking for a café near Anseong Farmland, this is the one! Access was really good.

It's close to Anseong Farmland, Lotte Mart and Starfield Anseong, so it's a nice stop on a drive. If you're searching for a café near Anseong Farmland, the location fits easily into a day trip.

The first thing that wowed me when I walked in was the size. It's an overwhelming space, as you'd expect from a large Pyeongtaek–Anseong café, and they say it's a full 500 pyeong. It really is huge.

Chat Baker interior on the 1st and 2nd floors

The 1st and 2nd floors each have a different mood, so it was fun to look around, and the seats are spaced far apart, so I never bumped into other guests and could relax.

Widely spaced seating at Chat Baker

Many big cafés these days are crowded and a bit noisy, but Chat Baker's music and layout are well done, so it actually felt quiet and comfortable.

The interior was stylish too. It isn't over-decorated; it feels warm and refined, and photos came out really pretty.

Can you work on a laptop at Chat Baker?

Chat Baker has plenty of outlets, so it was great for working on a laptop. I went to use my laptop while having brunch, and it was just right.

Chat Baker bakery: pain suisse and ciabatta sandwich

Bread display at Chat Baker bakery

The breads I picked at Chat Baker were a pain suisse (a Swiss-style cream-and-chocolate pastry) and a ciabatta sandwich, and as you'd expect from a bakery café, the bread was really satisfying. Freshly baked bread is the best, after all.

There was a good variety.

Today's picks: my all-time favorite pain suisse and the ciabatta sandwich.

The counter also had lots of baked sweets (guumgwaja). The pain suisse has sweet cream and chocolate inside flaky, layered pastry, and it went really well with coffee.

The ciabatta sandwich had chewy bread and generous fillings, a light brunch item that's easy to eat.

As the description says, they knead the dough by hand daily and use natural sourdough, and the bread itself had great flavor with almost no artificial taste. If you love bread, I think you'll be very happy here.

Chat Baker brunch: how is the jambon truffle cream risotto?

The brunch I ordered at Chat Baker this time was the jambon truffle cream risotto. Truffle aroma, salty jambon (Korean-style ham) and smooth cream go together nicely.

The truffle scent was rich but not overpowering, and the cream was smooth and nutty. The salty jambon paired so well with the risotto that I finished the bowl in no time. You can feel the care even in a single brunch dish, and it made me want to come back just for a meal. So I especially recommend it to anyone looking for a brunch café in Gongdo, Anseong.

Chat Baker Americano, rich with low acidity

Is Chat Baker's Americano acidic?

Chat Baker's Americano was nutty and strong, without strong acidity. Caffeine is how the day starts, after all. Nutty and rich is exactly my style.

Since it isn't very acidic, anyone can drink it comfortably, and it went really well with the bakery items. A bite of bread, a sip of coffee: the mood was perfect for spending time leisurely.

Chat Baker's outdoor terrace with a water curtain

My personal favorite spot at Chat Baker was the outdoor terrace with the water curtain. The streams of water and the wide open outdoor space were really impressive.

It was summer when I visited and far too hot to stay long, but I thought I'd definitely come back in the cool spring or fall to enjoy brunch on the terrace. Having a coffee in the breeze while listening to the water would be so healing. That atmosphere is another reason I recommend it to anyone looking for a café near Anseong Farmland.
