Grill lunch date in Seongsu, then a Seoulsup walk: OX Live Fire Grill

I went to a special omakase place with a spectacular fire show! It's in Seongsu, so on a nice day like these it makes a great date course together with a walk in Seoulsup 🫶

Where is OX Live Fire Grill Seongsu and how do you get there?

OX Live Fire Grill Seongsu is right in front of the Seongsu bus garage, at 11 Dulle 15-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul (1st floor). It's open daily 12:00–22:00, and there's parking for about 10 cars behind the building. Reservations are required, via Naver Reservation or CatchTable.

It's a 10–15 minute walk from Seongsu Station! Since it's right in front of the bus garage, I'd recommend a taxi or bus over the subway, haha. We were cutting it close on time, so we took a taxi, lol.

How do parking and the deposit work?

Parking is behind the restaurant, and valet isn't available! Reservations are a must, so book ahead through Naver Reservation or CatchTable.

I booked through Naver Reservation and paid a deposit, which they said is refunded when you pay for the meal afterward!

A U-shaped open kitchen and the wood-fire atmosphere

When you come in, the staff show you to your seat. The vibe is already amazing, right..💕

The inside is U-shaped!! It's an open kitchen, so you can watch the food being made while you wait, which made the meal even more fun ✨️✨️ The charcoal smell is incredible and makes you even hungrier, as a bonus...😋

The interior is really pretty. 😎 It's a great place for a date or for a cozy time with family!!!

You can eat while staring at the fire (bulmeong), lol. It almost feels like you're camping..? haha

They keep adding firewood throughout the meal, so the fire show was fun the whole time, haha.

What comes in the weekend lunch course?

We visited OX Live Fire Grill Seongsu for the weekend lunch. Before the course starts, you can add lobster if you like! We figured the regular menu would be filling enough, so we skipped it and only ordered extra wine.

Garlic marble soup and hanwoo beef tartare

First, the appetizer is garlic marble soup. It's made with confit garlic so it's smooth, and the black garlic oil gave it a deep savory flavor, haha.

Next came daily bread with smoked charcoal butter, bone marrow, and hanwoo (Korean beef) cow tartare. Raw beef with bread sounded odd, but it worked better than I expected, haha! The bread was crispy, so it was tastier together with the tartare than eating them separately!

Partway through, we ordered a red wine that goes well with meat. Cheers...🥂

Striploin steak and lamb with mint jelly

Finely mashed potatoes came topped with mushrooms and seasonal greens. There were chamnamul, byeongpung-namul, oyster mushrooms and more, so you eat them with the meat however you like.

The steak and lamb look amazing, right...🫶🫶 The lamb was very tender with no gamey smell, and the striploin steak, what can I even say..💕

If you get bored (?), they say it's fine to eat the meat with the mint jelly on the side. Of course there was no time to get bored, but the mint jelly combo was a fresh experience too, lol. Yum with the mashed potatoes.

Saffron vongole pasta

Saffron vongole pasta! It's a pasta made with baby clams and manila clams.

The plating is so pretty, right? The portion was big too, so we ate until we were full, lol.

Espresso and chocolate mousse, finished with affogato

Finally, espresso and chocolate mousse! Plain coffee would have felt a bit dull, but they thoughtfully served the espresso with ice cream. So we wrapped up with a very tasty affogato.

What's the date route after the meal?

My boyfriend and I were both very happy with the meal at OX Live Fire Grill Seongsu. Walking to Seoulsup afterward helps you digest, and it's perfect! The Seongsu café street is nearby too, so it's also great for a second stop at a café, haha.
