Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch is a pork noodle and bibim noodle restaurant facing Handam Beach in Aewol-eup, Jeju. The writer arrived before 12 noon on a weekday, was 4th in the queue, and shared a double-portion bone broth pork noodle soup, dongchimi bibim noodles (spicy mixed noodles with radish water kimchi) and handmade pork tteokgalbi (grilled patties) with family; the air-cooled outdoor waiting seats and fast table turnover kept the wait short. With summery dongchimi bibim noodles and tteokgalbi that the kid happily ate, Handam Guksu makes a satisfying family lunch in Aewol.

Oreumak Garden Jungmun Main Branch (오르막가든 중문본점) is a 40-year-old black pork restaurant in Jungmun, Seogwipo, Jeju, and the first on the island to start dry aging. On a weekday evening the writer's family ordered the 700g whole dry-aged black pork set, grilling everything from the pork tomahawk to neck and pork jowl, and got a second pot of bubbling mel jorim (braised salted anchovy) free. Thick yet tender meat with a salted anchovy dip that isn't too salty makes Oreumak Garden Jungmun Main Branch a solid recommendation for black pork in Jungmun.

Jeju indoor museum with Lord of the Rings, Matrix: Figure Museum Jeju

Figure Museum Jeju is an indoor figure museum on Hanchang-ro in Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo, with first- and second-floor galleries and an outdoor annex full of Marvel, Transformers, Star Wars and Game of Thrones figures. Dunsan-dong grill house piled with Cheongdo minari: Imdaejang, Daejeon

Imdaejang Daejeon Dunsan Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Galleria Timeworld in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon, where the meat arrives already grilled. Baengnyeon Boribap is a Korean set-meal restaurant and buffet on Sintanjin-ro in Daedeok, Daejeon, with a self-serve bar of 12 side dishes. On a weekday dinner revisit, the writer ordered aged-kimchi cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), a stir-fried pork set and a kids' pork loin cutlet, and checked the new items such as Baengnyeon gamjatang (pork bone and potato soup) and seafood chive pancake. At Baengnyeon Boribap you can pile on as much banchan as you like, mix a bibimbap, and finish with snacks and misugaru (roasted grain drink) for around 10,000 won per person.
