Sejong pho restaurant with free bean sprouts: Mekong Thai
In short
Mekong Thai Sejong Naseong Branch is a casual Vietnamese and Thai restaurant in Naseong-dong, Sejong. I tried the 12,900 won beef pho and 14,900 won spicy beef pho, adding free bean sprouts and mixing noodles and beef with sauce. Verdict: a generous, satisfying meal with both clean and spicy broths.

Inside Mekong Thai Sejong Naseong Branch and the menu

Mekong Thai Sejong Naseong Branch (메콩타이 세종나성점), located in Naseong-dong, Sejong, is a casual restaurant where you can enjoy both Vietnamese and Thai food—and, beyond that, some of the best Asian dishes.

Once inside, the space is wide and tidy. The tables aren't cramped together, and there are tables for two to four people as well as seats for bigger groups, so it looked like a nice place for a family meal. There are private rooms too, which makes it great for group dining.

As you'd expect from a pho specialist, Mekong Thai has a seriously wide range of pho. Along with classic beef pho, there are shrimp wonton pho, spicy beef pho, tom yum pho, and seafood pho if you want something a little different. There are plenty of rice and noodle dishes too, from stir-fried noodles such as pad thai and mie goreng to fried rice, khao phat curry, and nasi goreng, so I think it would be great to come with several people and order a bit of everything 😆
Side dishes and beef pho

Pickled onions and pickled radish came as the basic sides, and there were sauces on the table to enjoy with the pho. Tea came with it too, and it was delicious haha.

What does the beef pho taste like?
Beef pho (₩12,900) The portion was incredibly generous 👍 There was plenty of beef, with lots of onion and scallion piled on top, so it looked appetizing from the start haha ✨

The broth was rich without being overpowering—clean and mild! The signature pho aroma wasn't too strong, so it had an easy-to-like flavor 😊

Picking up the noodles and beef together was so good 👍 With tender beef, rice noodles, and crisp bean sprouts all in one bite, the texture was lovely too.

I like a little heat, so I set aside some beef and noodles and quickly tossed them in the sauce for a totally different flavor. It was mild and clean on its own, but once mixed with the sauce, the savory depth really came alive and it became richer and more punchy 💛

Spicy beef pho with extra bean sprouts
Spicy beef pho (₩14,900) The broth already had a faint red color, and with mushrooms, beef, scallions, and red chili on top, it definitely looked warming and spicy haha.
By the way, extra bean sprouts are free. I love having loads of bean sprouts in my pho, so I added a big heap 😋

Rather than simply being hot, it had the savory depth of pho broth with an added warming spice, which was delicious. There were quite a lot of mushrooms and beef too, so it was generous right down to the toppings. Personally, I recommend the spicy beef pho if you like a warming, spicy broth ✨

It had been a while since I'd properly enjoyed pho, and Mekong Thai in Sejong really hit the spot! The beef pho had a clean, mild broth that was easy to eat, while the spicy beef pho had an appealing peppery, rich flavor. I also loved mixing the noodles and beef with sauce now and then for a different taste 👍 With generous portions and a wide, clean dining room, this was a great spot for a hearty meal! Mekong Thai is somewhere I'd like to visit again whenever I'm craving a steaming bowl of pho in Sejong 🌿🍜
