Seoulsup tantan tomato ramen after the garden expo: Menya Pomo
In short
Menya Pomo Seoul Forest Branch is a tomato ramen restaurant in Seongdong, Seoul, between Seoulsup Station and Ttukseom Station. After a picnic at the Seoulsup Garden Expo, the writer had the bone broth and tantan Hanwoo cutlet tomato ramen sets (22,000 won each) and finished by adding torched cheese rice to the leftover broth to make risotto. For an unusual, filling meal that goes from ramen to risotto in one bowl, Menya Pomo Seoul Forest Branch is a good fit.

🍅 Menya Pomo tomato ramen, a Seoulsup favorite. If you're after something unusual, try the Hanwoo menchi-katsu (minced beef cutlet) tomato ramen finished with cheese rice risotto 👀

Menya Pomo Seoul Forest Branch after the Seoulsup garden expo picnic
Menya Pomo Seoul Forest Branch is a tomato ramen specialist near Seoulsup, and the best part is that you can start with ramen and end with risotto 🙌🏻 The garden expo picnic at Seoulsup is almost over, so I went to enjoy it and, for once, headed to Seoulsup instead of Seongsu haha. After the park, I dropped by Menya Pomo for tomato ramen 🍜

Menya Pomo is a tomato ramen specialty chain with 3 branches: Seongsu, Seoulsup and Gangnam 〰️ I went to the Seoulsup branch, between Seoulsup Station and Ttukseom Station haha. From a basic tomato ramen base to tomato ramen with exotic flavors!! There are so many versions that it's great for trying a bit of everything 😎

Atmosphere and how to order at Menya Pomo Seoul Forest Branch

The inside of Menya Pomo Seoul Forest Branch has soft lighting that feels cozy! The lamps are stained-glass style, which adds to the whole mood 👍🏻

You order at a kiosk. Sets, single items and sides are all shown with photos before you order :-)
How do Menya Pomo's 5 tomato ramen flavors differ?

- Original - clear broth with the tang of tomato
- Bone broth - creamy flavor blended with rich bone broth
- Tom yum - Thai flavor with a hint of lemongrass
- Indian - blended with deep curry flavor
- Tantan - nutty, spicy taste with peanuts, sesame and doenjang (fermented soybean paste)
There are many versions of the original tomato ramen with exotic flavors added, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for something unusual!!

Bone broth and tantan Hanwoo cutlet tomato ramen sets: what's included and spice levels
That day I ordered the (bone broth) Hanwoo cutlet tomato ramen set and the (tantan) Hanwoo cutlet tomato ramen set, ₩22,000 each.

Klub apple cider vinegar is one of the soda choices?!!! So on point 〰️ I'm actually someone who keeps a really big bottle of Klub ACV stocked at home lol, so I was super happy 🥰❤️ It tastes great and feels healthy too.

🔎 Here's what comes in a Menya Pomo set.
- Ramen
- Karaage (Japanese fried chicken), 2 pieces
- Choice of one: cheese rice, basil cheese rice or salad
- Choice of one drink (soda / oolong tea)
✔️ Spice runs from non-spicy (kids OK) to levels 1–5 ∿ ∿ Level 1 is about as hot as Shin Ramyun, level 2 is 2 times, level 3 is 3 times, level 4 is 4 times, and level 5 is 5 times as hot as Shin Ramyun. Each level is described as a multiple of Shin Ramyun!
How was the tantan Hanwoo cutlet ramen set?

Look how rich and nutty Menya Pomo's tantan tomato ramen looks! The thick fried Hanwoo menchi-katsu is made by hand in-house, and maybe that's why the meat flavor was so good 🤎

Set sides: cheese rice and potato salad
Since the set lets you pick a side, I chose cheese rice for one and salad for the other! The salad had cabbage at the bottom, potato salad on top, finished with Kewpie mayo, a slightly heavy salad that hits the Korean palate haha.

The portion is generous, and in one bowl you get ramen as round one and risotto as round two!! Plain rice is free (scoop it yourself from the rice cooker at the back), but cheese rice and basil cheese rice must be ordered separately haha.

I already love tantan noodles, and with that signature nuttiness added to tomato ramen, it was smoother and richer and really easy to eat :-)

There's plenty of minced meat on top as garnish, so you get a nice chew here and there! 👀 And a poached egg cooked to just the right consistency ∿ ∿ 😌

It's nutty, and with the creaminess of the poached egg it's a can't-go-wrong combo lol. The menchi-katsu made from minced Hanwoo was crispy and juicy too, and I really enjoyed it 👍🏻

Add cheese rice to the leftover tomato ramen broth for risotto
At Menya Pomo, once you've eaten most of the noodles, you can add cheese rice and enjoy it like tomato risotto! 🙌🏻

They torch the cheese for you too, so the risotto comes out with a lightly charred aroma. Done! Tomato ramen in all its versions plus risotto in one sitting was just plain filling 🙌🏻 A Seoulsup spot 🌳 where I got to try something unusual. If you like tomato ramen, Menya Pomo Seoul Forest Branch is worth a visit 😝
