Cheongdam hair salon inner clinic for UV-damaged hair: Beorn Hair
In short
Beorn Hair Cheongdam is a hair salon in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, taking up the whole second floor of a building on Seolleung-ro, a 1-minute walk from Gangnam-gu Office Station. After a month in Canada left the writer's hair sun-damaged, Beorn Hair Cheongdam recommended a 250,000 won inner clinic and a layered cut instead of a design perm, and in 30–40 minutes her hair became much glossier and softer. If your hair feels too damaged for a perm, Beorn Hair Cheongdam is a good place to try a clinic treatment first.

My hair had been neglected for months, so it was finally time for an upgrade. I headed to Beorn Hair Cheongdam in Cheongdam-dong.
Where is Beorn Hair Cheongdam, and is valet parking available?
Beorn Hair Cheongdam is located on the 2nd floor of 710 Seolleung-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and is open 9:30 AM–8:00 PM, closed every Tuesday. It's a one-minute walk from Gangnam-gu Office Station, and valet parking is available too. The valet isn't right in front of the shop — you have to go around to the back alley, and it costs ₩4,000.

If you walk a bit down from the salon's building toward Cheongdam intersection, you'll spot a GS25 convenience store. Turn around it, and a narrow street appears — take a left there and

you'll find the lot where you can valet park. It has both a mechanical parking system and an outdoor lot, so even cars like mine that can't use mechanical parking can drive in without worry.
The vibe inside Beorn Hair Cheongdam
Beorn Hair Cheongdam is a premium Cheongdam-dong hair salon that takes up the entire second floor of the building, staffed with designers who each have 10+ years of experience — apparently a place where you can expect a hair transformation without any regrets. So I went in with big ambitions for a dramatic change.

The salon was spacious with a clean interior, floor-to-ceiling windows, and high ceilings, so it never felt cramped. Once I sat down, they brought over some light snacks and a drink.
I went in for a design perm — so why was I recommended a clinic instead?
The head designer at Beorn Hair Cheongdam said my hair damage level was a 7 or 8 out of 10, and recommended a clinic before a perm. My original plan had been a design perm.

While waiting in my seat, I daydreamed about finally being freed from my boring hairstyle, imagining all the perming and curling to come. After a short wait, the head designer came over and asked what I wanted, so I pitched everything.
- I want a dramatic change
- My hair has no volume, so I think I need a root perm too
- I urgently need a root touch-up
- My hair's a bit frizzy and dry, I guess
After examining and analyzing the state of my hair, the designer's top recommendation was to do a clinic first before anything else, since my hair was currently too damaged for other treatments. ...Ah, I see?
She said that if you rate damage on a scale from 1 to 10, my hair was already at a 7 or 8. Thinking about it, my hair tangled often even though I shampooed and conditioned every day, and a lot of hair came out when I brushed it — this all made sense once I realized how damaged it must be. Seeing the photo they took before the treatment sealed the deal — yep, my hair really was hurting...

Why UV rays during a month in Canada ruined my hair
I didn't realize how light the color had gotten — the back and sides were even more bleached out. I'd last dyed my hair around May, then spent July, a full month, living in Canada during peak UV season. I put SPF 60 sunscreen on my skin every single day, but I never wore a hat, so my hair took all the damage instead.
UV rays really are the enemy of us all — they destroy not just skin but also hair's shine, nutrients, and protein, and damage the cuticle too. Because of this, dyed color can fade as if it's been bleached, making that section look even more damaged. Doing anything to hair in this state would just be pouring fuel on the fire, so I figured a nutrient-replenishing clinic was essential before things got worse.
Back in my 20s and 30s, people constantly asked me, 'Do you get dermatology treatments? Why is your skin/hair so good?' — I was blessed with good skin and hair without doing anything at all. But now that I'm older, my body's own moisture and protein are depleting, and regular maintenance seems to be the only answer. Ugh, so sad... let me wipe these tears...
It's okay... we have the power of medicine and beauty on our side. I quickly changed my plan to the ₩250,000 inner clinic, and lay down on the salon bed with hope for recovery.

Starting with the foundation of every hair treatment — a shampoo.

Beorn Hair Cheongdam layered cut: before and after
Along with the inner clinic, I also got a layered cut. The lower sections had a lot of damaged hair, and overall my hair felt heavy and stuffy, so I decided on a layered cut as well.
The designer showed me a style on a tablet that would suit me, and I confirmed it — go ahead, just like that. I looked like a drowned mouse Snoopy sister at that point.

Snip snip — with quick hands, the hair fell away. A Cheongdam-style layered cut, complete. Before —

After — first of all, my hair felt light and fresh, which I loved, and with no layers before, my long bangs now had layers that subtly covered some cheek space too, leveling up the aesthetics. Next, let's hear about today's main event, the inner clinic.
How does the inner clinic actually restore hair?
According to what I was told at Beorn Hair Cheongdam, the inner clinic supplies LPP (low molecular weight protein), PPT (high molecular weight protein), and CMC (cell membrane complex) to the spots where protein has been lost. Our hair gets damaged by external stressors like heat, UV rays, alkaline substances, and silicones, and

when keratin — the protein that makes up 80–90% of hair — is lost, it leaves holes and empty spaces. These can be restored through a clinic that supplies LPP, PPT, or CMC.

The step-by-step inner clinic process
STEP 0. Hair shampoo: removing buildup and sebum accumulated on the hair and scalp.
So spiky and messy, my hair looked really upset. Time to say goodbye to this dry, split, broken hair.
- STEP 1. Penetrating high molecular weight keratin protein: after shampooing, lying in the same spot for about 10 minutes with high molecular weight keratin protein applied
- STEP 2. Nano steam/heat treatment: opening the hair cuticle to aid absorption, converting high molecular weight protein into low molecular weight protein to penetrate deeper
- STEP 3. CMC replenishment: penetrating protein, moisture, and lipids to strengthen cuticle bonding
- STEP 4. Restoring cracked and peeled cuticles
While the hot machine was running, I passed the time reading a magazine. All these steps were quietly happening while I flipped through pages.

The salon magazine I read while waiting
Whew... everyone, be careful with this magazine. The cover alone showed a watch with a snake coiled around the wrist several times, then the first page hit hard with a Van Cleef & Arpels model, followed by a new Cartier Juste un Clou bracelet luring me in. Reading magazines at the salon is a real risk to your bank account... it's a scary magazine, so I quickly closed it and opened a more harmless-looking one instead.
And there it was — the Yoyo5 I'd been curious about, haha. As the owner of two Yoyo2+ strollers, I really wanted to try the new one-hand-folding Yoyo5 too.

Salon magazines really stir up your spending urges, dangerous stuff — meanwhile, the clinic was quietly hard at work.
STEP 5. Water-repellent surface coating to increase hold. This is the final step. Reading the magazine, time flew by.

Hahahaha, I looked like a mountain hermit. For the last step, I lay in the massage chair in the spa zone for 3 minutes, then had a final shampoo, and that was it —

How did my hair change after the inner clinic?
The total time for the inner clinic at Beorn Hair Cheongdam was roughly 30–40 minutes, not long at all, and for such a short time investment, my hair felt much calmer and neater. Finally, all the treatments were done.
There was a time when waiting at the salon felt truly boring, but now I listen to music, check my phone, read magazines, and time flies by. Probably because I'm so used to parenting that even this kind of free time feels precious, haha. My hair, so much calmer and neater for such a short time investment! Taking a closer look —

I could see my hair was far glossier and softer than before the treatment.
Will the inner clinic's effects last?
The clinic isn't permanent — it's just a temporary repair for currently damaged hair, so it's not a one-and-done thing; it needs regular maintenance. Hair is also affected by stress, nutrition, and overall physical health, not just external factors, so it's worth consistently paying attention to a healthy body, diet, and mental state.

After all the treatments, looking in the mirror at my shiny hair, I noticed some dark roots poking through... guess I'll have to go get a root touch-up soon.
