Bangi-dong agujjim restaurant: cod hot pot like Busan's, Ttoksuni
In short
Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch is a Jeolla-style agujjim (braised spicy monkfish) restaurant on Wiryeseong-daero in Bangi-dong, Songpa, Seoul, and it reportedly received a Blue Ribbon in both 2025 and 2026. A writer from Busan went with a group of five and ordered a medium daegu-jiri jeongol (clear cod hot pot) and a medium boneless monkfish stew at the milder spice level. The cod hot pot tasted almost exactly like the cod soup the writer ate in Busan, and the boneless monkfish was thick with a sauce that wasn't sweet. Ttoksuni Agujjim is a good Bangi-dong pick even when someone in the group can't handle spicy food.

A Bangi-dong favorite with 50 years of Jeolla-style hand-crafted flavor: Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch

Ttoksuni Agujjim, originally popular in the Gangseo area, opened a Jamsil direct branch, so I visited with some friends! If you usually enjoy spicy monkfish stew (agujjim) alongside a clean, refreshing cod soup (daegu-jiri tang), I'd definitely recommend checking this place out.
Parking and facilities at Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch

Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch has a dedicated parking lot behind the building and offers valet parking (₩2,000 valet fee for 2 hours). It's a Jeolla-style monkfish stew place with 50 years of tradition dating back to 1979. It also received Blue Ribbon awards in both 2025 and 2026, so I trusted it as a proper Bangi-dong local favorite before even walking in!

This is clearly a Korean food master's restaurant!!! They've received all kinds of plaques and awards, including for healing food and seafood/fish stews. Oho~~~

Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch has a really spacious interior with plenty of seating!! The tables are also spaced pretty far apart, so you can eat comfortably even when the place is packed!

What do you order for a party of 5?
Even before walking in, we'd already decided on the meaty monkfish stew, and seeing the menu photo confirmed we had to order it~ There was also a fried roe monkfish stew — crispy outside, moist inside, apparently! Sounded like it would pair perfectly with beer.

There were 5 of us, and since someone couldn't handle spicy food, we ordered a medium daegu-jiri jeongol and a medium boneless monkfish stew.

Among the basic side dishes, the crisp, refreshing yeolmu (young radish) and napa cabbage were especially delicious~

And there's a self-serve refill bar for the side dishes, so you can refill anytime!!
- Daegu-jiri jeongol (large, 2-3 servings) ₩32,000
- Boneless monkfish stew (medium) ₩65,000

Does the daegu-jiri jeongol taste like Busan-style cod soup?
The medium daegu-jiri jeongol came out first!! It's a huge size, right~~!? It was plenty enough even for 3 people to share.

Once the daegu-jiri jeongol starts bubbling, add the garlic paste that comes with it, and if you want it spicier, some cheongyang chili peppers to taste~~ Personally I add both, since it makes the broth cleaner and spicier, which I love. If you're eating with kids, it'd be perfect to portion some out first before adding the extras!

So many big, hearty chunks of cod!! The flesh was plump and there was so much to eat — the portion felt really generous no matter how much we kept eating~

There were also plenty of bean sprouts and crown daisy in it, so the broth was super refreshing and clean! I'm actually from Busan, you know?? Haha. It's hard to find a place that does daegu-jiri well outside of Busan, but Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch tasted really similar to the cod soup I used to eat in Busan, which made it even more enjoyable~~

All 5 of us took our share of cod meat, and there was still plenty left, so we got a broth refill too~~ So generous, right!!???
A clear, refreshing daegu-jiri jeongol made with broth simmered fresh every day! This place is right in front of my house, so I'll have to come back with my parents next time for more daegu-jiri jeongol~~

How spicy is the mild boneless monkfish stew?
Next came the medium boneless monkfish stew, and this one was seriously packed full too!!!

At Ttoksuni Agujjim, you can choose from 3 spice levels when ordering, and the default is about as spicy as Shin Ramyun. We ordered the mild version, and it wasn't spicy at all, which was very satisfying. If you want a little kick, the Shin Ramyun-level spice seems like the right call.

Ordering boneless was definitely the right call!! The monkfish pieces were big and plump, but also really thick, packed dense with meat — one big bite and your mouth is full of monkfish!!

The meat wasn't tough at all — it shredded apart softly — and eaten together with the crunchy bean sprouts, it's perfect as a meal or as a drinking snack!!

You know how monkfish stew sauce is sometimes made overly spicy and you end up with an upset stomach afterward? Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch doesn't make the sauce too sweet either, so it tasted clean while still having proper depth of flavor — I could tell why it's famous as a Bangi-dong favorite and earned a Blue Ribbon award!

What kind of gathering does this place suit?
Ttoksuni Agujjim Jamsil Direct Branch has a comfortable, spacious layout, so it's great for company dinners, family meals, or any kind of group gathering, and being right by Olympic Park makes it convenient to stop by after an outing there too! Between the clean, not-too-heavy-sauced monkfish stew and the clear, refreshing daegu-jiri jeongol, I'm so happy to have a new favorite spot right in my neighborhood! I can already tell I'll be coming back often for daegu-jiri jeongol whenever I crave something hot in the cold winter.
