Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch (양은이네 삼성역점) was the first stop for a group of five looking for a place that was cheap, generous and tasty. It is known around Samseong Station for good bossam (boiled pork wraps), so they chose it right away.

Company dinners have been frequent lately! Honestly, we don't really do team dinners anymore, very MZ of us, but it felt like we were too stuck inside our own team, so I started a new group to expand my network with neighboring teams!! It's the group of the junior members (?) from each department who got together to hustle when Saudi ministers and vice ministers visited our company... a bit lame, I know, haha. Here's today's review from the group we named "Imembery Remembery"! We said let's go somewhere cheap, big portions and tasty, so for round one we met at the Samseong Station bossam spot, <Yangeunine Samseong Branch>!

Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 5 of Samseongjungang Station and about 10 minutes from Exit 5 of Samseong Station. It was quite close to our office, and when I looked it up, it was exactly that distance!

When the group arrived at Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch at 6:30 on a weekday evening, every table was already taken. Thanks to the Naver reservation, their table was neatly set and waiting.

There were five of us, and someone who got there first said she was already waiting, so I ran over out of breath TT We met at 6:30 and the place was already completely full... What would we have done without a reservation... Just like the reviews say, the squid bossam is really good and great value too, so it felt like the real go-to company dinner spot for Samseong Station office workers.

Looking around, it was all company dinners and older office workers, haha. We picked the right place today!!!

Yangeunine menu and what five of us ordered

The five of us ordered a large squid bossam (₩48,000) and a spicy pollack stew for 2 (₩24,000), and got a squid pajeon as a reservation service. We added assorted somaek (soju-beer mixes) on top.

How big is Yangeunine's large squid bossam?

The large squid bossam at Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch came with almost 4 rows of bossam, with the meat piled up like a mountain. The squid portion was also very generous.

Honestly, I agonized over whether to order a Yangeunine set or just the squid bossam...! We really wanted to eat bossam to our heart's content, so we went with the large squid bossam! Before visiting I read so many reviews everywhere... and what is this... this is the power of a Samseong Station bossam place... the squid bossam we ordered was way more enormous than in the review photos O_O...!! Maybe photos just make it look smaller...?

There really were almost 4 rows of bossam, and not just for show: the meat was heaped up like a mountain, so everyone kept marveling that we ordered well 👍👍 The squid portion was very generous too!!

Spicy pollack stew for 2 with ramen noodles instead of rice

The spicy pollack stew for 2 (small size) at Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch was packed with meaty pollack and roe. Rice normally comes with it, but the staff told us we could swap it for ramen noodles, so we did to make it easier to share.

Next came the pollack stew! Second round of satisfaction at how generous it was...

We swapped to noodles so we could share, hehe. The broth was the real deal: spicy but without any fishy smell, and clean enough that I kept going back for more. After the rich, mild flavor of the squid bossam, one spoonful of pollack stew was the golden combo of nutty, spicy and sharp.

Honestly I'm not someone who eats pollack stew often, but I cleaned the pot out happily.

Best ways to eat squid bossam

The best combo with Yangeunine's squid bossam was a piece of bossam topped with squid and a bite of clean, sweet kimchi. It was a taste that made sense of why the place was so crowded when we walked in.

Still, what's today's star? The squid bossam!!! It was seriously so so so!!! good!! The kind of taste that explains why there was such a shocking crowd when we walked in.

Free squid pajeon with a Naver reservation

Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch gives a free squid pajeon if you visit after booking on Naver. It was loaded with squid, crispy, with mild scallions and chewy, nutty squid.

And the service, how about that... All the staff were kind, which was great, but when we visited after booking on Naver they gave us this squid pajeon!! See how much squid is packed in? Anyone who goes to Yangeunine Samseong Branch without booking is a fool!!! It's really crispy, the scallions are mild, and the squid is chewy and nutty when you bite in. I think this place does everything well...

First round at Yangeunine, then on to round two

We wrapped up with total satisfaction, including the service... and of course we dashed straight to a second place, haha. Yangeunine got us talking, so what could we do... Good food made everyone chatter away more cheerfully, the drinks kept flowing, and we became close fast... It meant a party of extra charges, but that's fine... It felt like I finally found a good place near the office, so it was a really great day!!
