Gongdeok salads: wasabi mayo salmon & teriyaki mala pasta, Why Starve
In short
Why Starve Diet Gongdeok Main Branch is a protein box salad shop on basement level 1 of Lotte Castle President in Mapo, Seoul, connected directly to Gongdeok Station. The writer paired the Salmon Protein Box Light with wasabi mayo sauce and the Mala Chicken Pasta Protein Box with teriyaki sauce, and with 150g or more of meat in every box, both stayed filling even on a diet. Verdict: the Mala Chicken Pasta Protein Box with teriyaki is worth recommending even to people who don't handle spicy food well.

I went to Why Starve Diet Gongdeok Main Branch at Gongdeok Station and had some really tasty diet food 🥗

Honestly, it's hard for me to eat fresh vegetables regularly, so getting to eat something this tasty and fresh made me really happy haha ^_^
Why Starve Diet Gongdeok Main Branch: location, hours and parking
Why Starve Diet Gongdeok Main Branch is at 109 Mapo-daero, Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the B1 floor of Lotte Castle President. It's open Monday to Friday 10:00–22:00 (last order 21:30) and Saturday 10:00–21:00 (last order 20:30), and closed on Sundays. For parking, you can use the Lotte Castle shopping arcade parking lot.
It's on the B1 floor of Lotte Castle, which connects directly to Gongdeok Station, so access is really good.

If you come into the arcade from Exit 2 of Gongdeok Station, you can find it right away, so even first-time visitors won't get lost. The shop is clean and also pretty cute. The cheerful vibe makes me think even a diet salad would taste better here!

Are there seats for eating alone near Gongdeok Station?
Why Starve Diet Gongdeok Main Branch has tables where several people can eat together, plus bar seats that are great for eating alone near Gongdeok Station. So I think it's also a good lunch spot for office workers in Gongdeok.

What is a Why Starve protein box?
The signature menu at Why Starve Diet is the protein box. Whichever protein box you pick, it comes with 150g or more of meat, so you get plenty of protein, plus healthy carbs and fresh vegetables all in one go.

It's a place where you can eat until you're full in Gongdeok and still stick to your diet, so the menu is especially welcome for anyone dieting.

Diet meals often leave you feeling empty afterward, but the Why Starve protein box has a generous amount of meat, so I felt properly full!! 😉
How does the Salmon Protein Box Light with wasabi mayo sauce taste?
My first pick was the Salmon Protein Box Light, with wasabi mayo sauce. It had a nicely grilled salmon steak, and the mild, nutty salmon steak was really good 🐟

There was no fishy smell typical of salmon, and the nutty flavor really came through, so it was easy to enjoy. The faint kick of wasabi in the wasabi mayo sauce went really well with the richness of the salmon.

You get protein, vegetables and carbs all at once, so it was a light but filling meal. I cut the salmon into bite-size pieces and ate it piled on the vegetables, and the flavors were nicely balanced, so I didn't get tired of it until the last bite.

For a diet lunch box near Gongdeok Station, it's quite big and the portion is really generous, so after finishing one protein box I felt full haha
Mala Chicken Pasta Protein Box with teriyaki sauce: is it very spicy?
My second pick was the Mala Chicken Pasta Protein Box, which I ate with teriyaki sauce. The spicy, numbing mala flavor was spicier than I expected and really good 🌶️

I'd really recommend this to anyone who has been holding off on malatang (spicy Chinese-style hot pot soup) or mala xiangguo (mala stir-fry) because of dieting!! You get that signature numbing mala taste, but it's made with chicken and pasta, so you can enjoy a punchy flavor without diet guilt.

With the sweet and salty teriyaki sauce, the numbing heat of the mala mellowed out a lot, so I think even people who can't handle spicy food could eat it.
Why I recommend Why Starve Gongdeok as a salad spot in Gongdeok
If you're looking for a good salad place in Gongdeok or thinking about a diet meal plan, I recommend visiting Why Starve Diet Gongdeok Main Branch. The biggest strengths were the generous 150g-plus protein portions, the fresh vegetables, and the variety of sauce combinations that keep it from getting boring!!
It's a worthy restaurant near Gongdeok Station and a worthy salad spot, and next time I want to try other menu items and sauces too!! If you're watching your diet near Gongdeok Station, it's an easy place to drop by at lunchtime or on your way home from work, so I think I'll be visiting often 😊
