Mom-and-daughter clam hot pot with mini pajeon, Yeouido: Gaetbeol-ui

This time in Yeouido I ate really, properly well — at Gaetbeol-ui Jogae Yeouido Main Branch!

Going back through the photos, the size of the pot alone was on another level haha. Clams aside, there was so much to eat from the self-bar too — barley rice, sides, all of it — such a satisfying meal that day haha.

Once inside, the place was bigger than I expected. It's all wood tones, so it feels clean, and there are plenty of tables — looked great for eating with a group in Yeouido! Lots of private rooms too, good for company dinners (not exact, but I'd guess there are 8+ rooms..?)

What's on the self-bar? Barley rice and yeolmu kimchi

There's a separate self-bar where you grab whatever side dishes you need — geotjeori kimchi, yeolmu (young radish) kimchi, chili peppers, wasabi, macaroni salad and more (you can take as much as you want, love that!!)

Perfect little setup to nibble on while waiting for the main dish — love having a self-bar like this... someone (me) loading up on carbs before the main event even starts.

No but seriously!!!! The yeolmu was so good. The table next to us was also raving about how tasty the yeolmu was. Honestly good enough that I'd buy it if they sold it separately.

The geotjeori was really good too.

And the default water is hutgae (Hovenia) tea ‼️‼️‼️ major kudos to the owner for that touch. People who like to drink really appreciate a detail like this,,

How much comes in the giant clam hot pot (small)?

And finally, the main event!!!! We ordered the giant clam hot pot (small).

The big pot was genuinely packed full of clams and seafood. On one side there's cheese you can melt and eat warm! There was whole squid in there too, plus mushrooms and vegetables tucked between the clams — everything looked fresh.

Underneath there's even more vegetables and clams. The portion is huge... honestly enough for three people (especially with an added kalguksu noodle sari).

I love the melted cheese + scallop combo (savory and salty)..❤️

The review-event mini pajeon and the amenities by the entrance

I also took part in the review event and got a mini pajeon (scallion pancake) haha. Not a big size, so it was just right to pick at piece by piece alongside the clam hot pot. Perfect little addition for whenever the hot pot alone felt like it needed a companion ෆ

Just the two of us, mom and me, and we were absolutely stuffed. Apparently it's high-protein and good for dieting too, which put my mind a little at ease,,haha

I was in such a hurry to get in and eat that I missed it at first, but there was a nice little touch near the entrance!!!! Candy, hair ties, floss, even mouthwash were all set out there.

Is Gaetbeol-ui Jogae Yeouido worth it? Final verdict

True to its name, the giant clam hot pot's visual — one pot loaded to the brim — is what stuck with me the most!! With so many kinds of clams and all the barley rice and sides you could load up on at the self-bar, there ended up being way more to eat than I expected haha. One hot pot is easy to share with a group, so this seems like a solid pick in Yeouido for a dinner gathering, a company dinner, or whenever you're craving something warm and brothy!
