Yeonsinnae tonkatsu: pick-your-combo mixed katsu at Katsu Monster

Today's menu is tonkatsu (pork cutlet)🧡 As someone for whom pork cutlet is soul food, it's something I never get tired of, whenever I eat it🧡 This time I visited Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch, a well-known tonkatsu restaurant in Yeonsinnae!

Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch is at 4-1 Yeonseo-ro 28-gil, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (1st floor). It's open daily 10:00–21:00 (last order 20:15), with a break time from 15:00 to 16:00.

What are the seats and atmosphere like at Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae?

There are 1-person seats where you can eat looking out the window, and 2-person seats for eating with a friend. There aren't many seats, but turnover is fast, so you can probably eat in without a long wait. While I waited after ordering, delivery orders kept coming in nonstop. I was already super excited before the food arrived😄

What are the Katsu Monster menu, prices and mixed katsu combos?

The basic menu at Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch includes loin katsu, tenderloin (hire) katsu and cheese katsu, and the triple katsu, which lets you try all three, is ₩18,000, which felt like a really good deal! There are also 1-person sets that pair tonkatsu with a noodle dish, so it seems great for eating solo or for a hearty meal.

Another thing I liked: at many places the mixed katsu is usually loin and tenderloin, but at Katsu Monster you can pick the combo you want, like loin+cheese / tenderloin+cheese / loin+tenderloin! That especially won me over. Being able to build it to your taste made me really happy, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to try several kinds at once.

How does the sauce come when you order?

After I ordered and sat down at Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch, they brought out whole bottles of salad dressing, tonkatsu sauce and wasabi. Getting the whole container meant I could use as much as I liked, which was nice.

How are the taste and portion of the Katsu Monster cheese katsu (₩15,000)?

The Katsu Monster cheese katsu is ₩15,000, and it totally deserves applause!! 👏🏻 The cheese stretches and stretches, and the nutty flavor of the mozzarella is superb!! The meat and cheese go so well together, and the cheese isn't overdone but blends with the meat in just the right ratio, so it was so delicious!

And just like the mixed katsu, the portion is huge!!! It's twice the size of the cheese katsu at other tonkatsu shops!! There's a reason it's Katsu 'Monster.' It lives up to its name!

Why is the mixed katsu (loin + tenderloin, ₩16,000) such good value?

The Katsu Monster mixed katsu (loin + tenderloin) is ₩16,000. It felt like great value because the portion is so big... if they give you the same amount as ordering each one separately, what are you doing to us,,, My partner, who ate the mixed katsu, was so full from the portion that they felt stuffed all day... haha

I'm a loin person to begin with, and the loin katsu at Katsu Monster is really good. Juices flood out when you bite in, and the crust is crispy! I especially love the edge of the loin katsu,, the fatty part? Chewed together with the lean meat, that slight richness (?) is just so good, you know?

The tenderloin (hire katsu) was also really tender and delicious. Biting into just soft, tender lean meat is so gentle and so good❤️

That day I'd been craving cheese katsu, and I'm so glad I ordered it. The stretching cheese,,, how it goes with the meat,,, some cheeses just aren't tasty, but Katsu Monster's cheese is really, truly delicious!!

I picked up the last piece with real regret. To everyone near Yeonsinnae Station wondering about lunch~ everyone wondering about a solo meal~ everyone looking for a great tonkatsu place~~! I recommend Katsu Monster Yeonsinnae Branch! 😉
