Where is PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch?

PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is at 45 World Cup-ro 23-gil, 1st floor, Mapo-gu, Seoul, 387 meters from Mangwon Station Exit 2. It's closed Mondays and Tuesdays, and open Wednesday to Friday 11:00–19:00 (last order 18:30) and Saturday to Sunday 11:00–21:00 (last order 20:30). There's no parking on-site, so you'll need to use the nearby Mangwon 1-dong Community Center lot, but takeout discounts and delivery/packaging are available.

I went looking for good toast, and found PICT Roastery Mangwon. The red brick exterior catches your eye with an eye-grabbing typography poster and a convex mirror on the wall. Head down half a flight of stairs and a cozy space opens up.

I was craving a black tea with fruit flavor filling my mouth, so I went with Jardin Bleu. Takeout gets you a whopping ₩1,000 discount. PICT Roastery handles everything in-house, from roasting the green beans to extraction, and it's a coffee spot focused on the deep, pure flavor of coffee. Maybe that's why the whole time I was there, takeout and delivery notification sounds never stopped. Apparently every Monday and Tuesday is dedicated entirely to roasting and checking bean quality.

The lineup changes monthly and quarterly, so you get a new flavor experience every time you visit — this place is serious about coffee. You can buy freshly roasted beans right at the store, available in 200g, 500g, and 1kg units, perfect for a home café setup or as a gift.

Inside PICT Roastery: seating and power outlets

With pale cream walls and orange-toned furniture, the space feels warm. There are two two-person tables in a small nook near the entrance, and across from the counter there's a bar table with six seats plus six more two-person tables.

The open kitchen lets you see the hygiene standards and cooking process firsthand, which makes it even easier to trust what you're eating. Every time I happened to glance toward the kitchen, a staff member was busy grilling toast to a golden brown — seems like delivery orders for toast were pouring in too.

The bar table has outlets, and with quiet music playing, it's a good spot for laptop work or reading.

How do the aged French toast and Jardin Bleu taste?

The aged toast at PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is carefully grilled the moment you order. A hefty metal plate makes the golden-brown toast look even better. It looked so appetizing that I took my time snapping photos from every angle, and even after the slight delay, the thick slice was still warm all the way through.

The texture is as soft as pudding, and the bread itself isn't sweet — just plain and clean-tasting. The crispy caramelized surface has that nutty, carb-y flavor with just enough sweetness, so the overall balance was great. It pairs well with Americano or tea, and with a latte added it can easily be a hearty meal.

The Jardin Bleu tea came in a mug printed with PICT Roastery's cute mascot character. The subtle fruit aroma wrapped around the black tea's characteristic bitterness, giving it exactly the light, clean taste I was hoping for.

A fulfilling time — filling my stomach with sweet French toast and my mind with fun, reading Jeong Ji-eum's <We All Go a Little Crazy Sometimes>. Next time I'll come back to try the toast topped with seasonal fruit.
