This is Something About Coffee (썸띵어바웃커피), a dessert café near Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam that I visited recently. There aren't many cafés worth going to around Sinnonhyeon, but this one is a big three-floor café with lots of seats, and, best of all, lots of the desserts and cakes I love, so it's perfect for a Sinnonhyeon dessert café date 🩷

Location and how to get to Something About Coffee

Something About Coffee is at 30 Gangnam-daero 102-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and it's open every day from 11:00 to 22:30.

It's a 5-minute walk from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 6 and a 10-minute walk from Gangnam Station Exit 11 🫶 Come up the alley by the CGV, pass the 7-Eleven, and keep going straight ✔️

Is Something About Coffee spacious, with plenty of seats?

The best thing about Something About Coffee is how roomy it is. It's a big three-floor café with separate men's and women's restrooms inside and lots of seats.

You order desserts and drinks on the 2nd floor, and from the 2nd floor up there are terrace seats outside too. There aren't actually that many cafés around Gangnam where you can sit and talk for a long time, but Something About Coffee has a wide range of desserts and lots of seats, so it's just right for a Gangnam–Sinnonhyeon date 🩷

What I ordered at Something About Coffee

❤️ I ordered the egg cookie (₩5,900), black sesame fig cheesecake (₩9,800), matcha cream cold brew (₩7,500) and an americano (₩6,500) ❤️

After ordering, I picked everything up when the buzzer went off. With so many cakes and desserts, this dessert-lover had a serious case of can't-decide, but anyway, order done 💕

Egg cookie, ₩5,900: how is it different from an egg tart?

At a glance the egg cookie looks like an egg tart, but it isn't made with pie crust. It's a firmer, scone-style egg cookie.

If you like egg tarts, I'm sure you'll love this. The outside is a slightly firm cookie, but the inside is a moist egg tart.

What does the black sesame fig cheesecake (₩9,800) taste like?

This is the cake I agonized over the most. There were so many to choose from, ugh 😭 I've been into figs lately, so my pick was the black sesame fig cheesecake!

Think of it as a cheesecake topped with black sesame cream. The fig compote on top and the pieces of fig tucked inside the black sesame cream are bigger than I expected, so it's great for fig lovers.

The cream isn't overly rich and the cheesecake itself is moist, so I recommend it if you want a soft, moist cake. The fig and black sesame combo works well!

Is the matcha cream cold brew very sweet?

I ordered the matcha cream cold brew (₩7,500) and an americano (₩6,500). Since I had desserts, I kept the drinks fairly simple: an americano that goes perfectly with sweets, and a cold brew topped with matcha cream.

I worried the matcha cream would make it too sweet, but the cream isn't very sweet and it finishes with matcha's bitterness! It went with the desserts much better than I expected.
