In short
Baekho Tteokbang (백호떡방) is a pumpkin injeolmi (chewy rice cake coated in powder) shop in the Geukdong Star Class arcade on Beonyeong-ro in Sinjeong-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan. The writer has tried tteok shops across Ulsan for company event thank-you gifts. After a tasting, the writer bought one medium Baekho tteok (castella pumpkin injeolmi) and one medium Heukho tteok (black sesame pumpkin injeolmi), and checked the ₩6,500 thank-you set, the wrapping options and storage. Verdict: Baekho Tteokbang's chewy texture and gentle sweetness make it a solid pick for thank-you tteok in Ulsan.

Why I picked Baekho Tteokbang for Ulsan thank-you tteok
Baekho Tteokbang (백호떡방) is a tteok (rice cake) shop in Sinjeong-dong, Ulsan, selling pumpkin injeolmi with a chewy bite and a gentle sweetness. My company is a conservative kind of place, so after big events like weddings and funerals we hand out thank-you tteok. That means I've tried pretty much every tteok shop in Ulsan.
Baekho Tteokbang sells the chewiest injeolmi I've had, with a subtle sweetness too. Changeok tteok is all the rage these days, right? After tasting the injeolmi here, I thought, "So this is Ulsan's Changeok tteok!" It's a brand-new place in Ulsan, so I'm writing up a quick review.

Baekho Tteokbang, a good pick for Ulsan thank-you tteok, is in the Geukdong Star Class shopping arcade across from Ulsan KBS. There's a basement parking lot in the building, so parking is easy. They also said you can park on the big main road on weekdays from 11:30 to 14:00 and on weekends, so keep that in mind.
What's the inside of Baekho Tteokbang like?

It's an open kitchen, so you see the whole kitchen the moment you walk in. You can tell they prepare everything cleanly, which made me trust the place.

One wall is decorated with traditional-style props and bojagi (Korean wrapping cloths). Wouldn't a prettily bojagi-wrapped box make a great Ulsan gift?
Baekho Tteokbang menu: Baekho tteok and Heukho tteok

There are only two tteok on the menu: Baekho tteok, a castella pumpkin injeolmi, and Heukho tteok, a black sesame pumpkin injeolmi. For a tteok shop in Sinjeong-dong, Ulsan, the menu is really minimal. They don't carry a wide range of rice cakes.

You can sample at this new Ulsan hotspot too. The samples come in small paper cups with toothpicks in front, and the owner told me it tastes even better if you pop it in your mouth in one bite, coating and all.

I tried both tteok and each has its own charm, so I decided to take one of each home.

They also sell pumpkin sikhye and pumpkin milk, made to bring out the pumpkin's gentle sweetness.

Baekho Tteokbang thank-you set price and packaging options
The thank-you tteok set is a small injeolmi and a drink, prettily packaged, for ₩6,500.

For bulk orders, reserving in advance is a must. Bojagi wrapping costs ₩2,000 extra and cooler packaging ₩1,500 extra, so keep that in mind.
Baekho tteok (castella pumpkin injeolmi), medium ₩8,000, and how to store it

First up, Ulsan's Changeok tteok! Let's open the pumpkin injeolmi from Baekho Tteokbang. The owner said it keeps for 1 day at room temperature, and that it's even chewier and tastier if you refrigerate it before eating.

If you can't finish it right away, freeze it and thaw it for just 30 minutes, and she said it comes out like freshly made tteok.

Ta-da! This is the Baekho tteok, piled with fluffy injeolmi powder. I'm already drooling.
Heukho tteok (black sesame pumpkin injeolmi), medium ₩8,500

Baekho Tteokbang's Heukho tteok is a pumpkin injeolmi heaped with jet-black sesame powder.

The moment I opened the lid, a nutty aroma wafted out and I couldn't wait to try it.

How do Baekho tteok and Heukho tteok taste different?
Baekho tteok is chewy rice cake with fluffy castella crumbs, while Heukho tteok's charm is its nutty black sesame coating. Let me set out the Baekho Tteokbang menu nicely and taste it!

They seem to cut it by hand rather than by machine, since the sizes differed a little.

I split the pumpkin injeolmi in half first. The owner said they use good ingredients like 100% Ulsan Bokjori glutinous rice, pumpkin and black sesame, and it really was chewy and delicious.

If I got tteok this good as an Ulsan thank-you gift, I think it would be a huge hit.

The inner tteok is chewy, and the castella outside is fluffy and melts in your mouth.

Unlike its black outside, the Heukho tteok has a yellow interior.

The black sesame part is so nutty that I think older folks would love it.
Baekho Tteokbang verdict: recommended as Ulsan thank-you tteok?

The pumpkin injeolmi at Baekho Tteokbang comes in two flavors, each with its own charm. If you have a baby's sweet tooth, you'll probably prefer the castella pumpkin injeolmi (Baekho tteok); if you have a granny's taste for nutty flavors, the black sesame pumpkin injeolmi (Heukho tteok).
Personally, I loved the chewy texture and gentle sweetness. The paper bags are neat and the stickers are designed in matching colors, so I highly recommend it as an Ulsan gift or thank-you tteok.
