Haeundae European restaurant for a heatwave drive: Bueokgan

In short

Bueokgan Haeundae Branch (부엌간 해운대점) is a European restaurant of about 100 pyeong on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan. A couple who swapped a walk for a drive during a heatwave ordered the Bueokgan couple's dish set for 58,000 won, customised with pastry soup, grilled mushroom salad, seafood tomato clay-pot (ttukbaegi) pasta and pepperoni pizza. The set was too much for two, so they ate two slices of pizza and took the rest home to reheat in an air fryer. Verdict: if you want pasta, pizza and salad in one meal, Bueokgan's set menu is the answer.

Too hot to walk: a Haeundae drive to Bueokgan instead

My husband and I took a Haeundae drive for the first time in a while. It was far too hot for a walk, so we went looking for a good meal and found Bueokgan Haeundae Branch.

I wanted all four: pasta, risotto, pizza and salad. But for two people that seemed impossible, so I agonized over what to cut the whole way there, haha. Then we arrived and the set menu was great in both composition and price, so we ordered that. Here's the review~ haha

Where to park at Bueokgan Haeundae Branch

This is the underground garage entrance, at the back of the building.

Path from the underground garage to the elevator

Park underground, take the elevator up, and when you get out on the 2nd floor the entrance is right there ^^

A 100-pyeong dining hall with three themed spaces

The entrance is small, but once you step in, wow~ three big spaces open up, each with its own character and all of them pretty. The light is great too, so it felt like "is this really Europe?" and like a resort. I loved it.

First space decorated in dark khaki and white

The first space: dark khaki meets white.

The mood makes you want a glass of wine, or it feels a bit like a whisky bar! A perfect space for a date.

Second space, modern with white and mirrors

The second space, where the entrance is,

was modern, with white and mirrors. It also had several group tables, so it's a good place for get-togethers.

The third space, with the best natural light,

is toned-down yellow meets white. Fresh and full of a holiday feeling. Bright sunlight comes in from two sides, and I loved the bright atmosphere ^^

I took a seat here too.. and there were three families dining: one with a young child, one with grown-up children, and one with a teenager. It was lovely to see. We were the couple team, haha.

As soon as we sat down, the table was set for our party size.

Menu for the Bueokgan couple's dish set and steak set

Bueokgan couple's dish set from 51,000 won: what's included and upgrade costs

The best-value set menu at Bueokgan Haeundae Branch: prices and composition.

There were two Bueokgan set menus that weren't on the Naver menu: the Bueokgan couple's dish set from ₩51,000 and the Bueokgan steak set from ₩89,000.

The couple's dish set is ₩51,000 and includes soup, salad, your choice of pasta or rice, one pizza and two drinks. Great value compared with ordering à la carte. My agonizing vanished and I settled on the couple's dish set! haha

Menu listing extra charges for changing set items

If you change items from the default menu, you pay the extra charge for each item. Still, the set is good value. It even made my craving for risotto vanish~ The composition was really good.

We ordered the Bueokgan couple's dish set with pastry soup, grilled mushroom salad, seafood tomato clay-pot (ttukbaegi) pasta, and a single grapefruit + single orange, for ₩58,000~

A bowl of seafood tomato clay-pot pasta

Then the seafood tomato clay-pot pasta arrived. It looked pretty too, and the delicious smell really got my appetite going, haha.

Next came the grilled mushroom salad, with a bed of mushrooms under the vegetables. I love mushrooms, so I munched away happily, haha.

While we were eating, the pepperoni pizza and the pastry soup came out.

A regular size? Not big, but a thick, hearty pepperoni pizza.

Bueokgan's pastry soup is a sweet pumpkin soup

The pastry soup turned out to be a sweet pumpkin soup.

It was so good I wondered, was pumpkin soup always this tasty? I kept going back for more. I also liked the thoughtful touch of a mini bowl for scooping some out.

Too much for two: taking the pepperoni pizza home for the air fryer

A plump pepperoni pizza. This is the real deal. A place that does a basic pizza well is a great restaurant. Two of us ordered a set menu and it was a lot, haha. We ate two slices, took the rest home and reheated it in the air fryer. Wow~~~ so good!

Everything we ordered was delicious. The grilled mushroom salad, where you get lots of mushrooms and vegetables, suited my taste perfectly.

The clay-pot seafood tomato pasta had plenty of plump shrimp, a generous portion, and good flavor.

Is Bueokgan Haeundae Branch worth it? Final verdict

Bueokgan Haeundae Branch is a great pasta spot with a lovely atmosphere on Haeundae's Dalmaji-gil. There's parking, and the couple's set menu nails both value and taste. It's good as a Haeundae date restaurant and I'd also recommend it for a family meal.
