Haeundae Chinese restaurant with an indoor waiting zone: Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a Chinese restaurant on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae-gu, Busan. Was hunting for Chinese food in Haeundae and found Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch 🥢 I've been to regular Bueokgan a lot and always had a good experience, so I visited with high expectations for this Chinese branch too!

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is located along Dalmaji-gil 📍 It's a bit far from the subway station, so I'd recommend going by car rather than public transit. But since there's dedicated parking, you can visit without worrying about that ~ Dalmaji-gil itself is famous as a drive course, so it's also a great spot to drive along the ocean views before or after your meal!

Waiting indoors: the Bueokgan waiting zone
In this hot weather, there's a separate waiting zone, so you can wait indoors!!

What is the dining room like?
The moment I walked in, I was surprised — it was nothing like the typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant vibe. The interior was pretty upscale and the overall atmosphere was comfortable, so it looked great for dates or family gatherings too.

The place itself was spacious enough to easily accommodate group guests. In fact, when we visited around 6pm on a weekday, by the time we left it was almost fully booked! The customers were a mix of all ages, regardless of gender.

The menu and the three dishes we ordered
On the cooked-dish side there was eggplant tempura in fish-flavor sauce, jalapeño cream shrimp, black vinegar sirloin sweet and sour pork, ganpung monkfish, mapo tofu, shiitake shao mai, ganpung shrimp, stir-fried pepper with pork, and yuringi — lots of unusual dishes compared to other Chinese restaurants. The rice/noodle menu was varied too, with mala cilantro jjamppong, poached-egg samgyeop jjajang, poached-egg octopus jungwha rice bowl, and more — I liked that haha haha.
After a lot of deliberation, we ordered Bueokgan Chinese's signatures: poached-egg samgyeop jjajang (12,000), beef belly jjamppong (12,000), and black vinegar sirloin sweet and sour pork (28,000) 𓂃

The basic sides that came out: jjasai and danmuji ~ and instead of plain water, roasted barley tea 🍵

Black vinegar sirloin sweet and sour pork, 28,000 won
First to arrive was the black vinegar sirloin sweet and sour pork. It had coconut flakes sprinkled on top, which was unusual haha. The meat was thick, and since it was made with glutinous rice batter it had a chewy texture, plus the black vinegar gave it a slightly tangy taste. Totally different from regular sweet and sour pork 💭 The sauce-dipped version was delicious too... ♡

Poached-egg samgyeop jjajang, 12,000 won
Normally jjajang comes topped with a sunny-side-up egg, but this one had a poached egg instead, so the noodles loosened up softly when mixed and blended well with the jjajang sauce — really tasty. You can also sprinkle on chili powder to taste!
Pop the poached egg and mix it all up well 🙆🏻♀️

Beef belly jjamppong, served over rice
The beef belly jjamppong rice is a dish I want to recommend 🗒️ Since noodles would've filled us up too much, we ordered it as jjamppong rice instead! The broth was really rich and had deep flavor, but it wasn't overly spicy either, so it was satisfying.

Overall the ingredients inside were generous and the amount of meat was plentiful — it was the best!!!!

Why Bueokgan is worth it as a Haeundae Chinese restaurant
Adding ingredients like poached egg, coconut flakes, and black vinegar to familiar Chinese restaurant dishes definitely made the flavors stand out from other places. On top of that, the atmosphere was so clean and the staff were friendly, so next time I'm craving Chinese food I'll definitely come back and try other menu items ( *˙༥˙* )
It's a good spot for family or group gatherings, and one I'd recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy a comfortable Chinese meal. If you're looking for a Chinese restaurant in Haeundae, it's worth a visit at least once ~
