In short

On this second visit the writer ordered the 49,000-won Sangdae-dong signature set of makchang (grilled pork intestines), naengsam (frozen pork belly) and assorted sundae (blood sausage), served with unlimited minari (water celery) and a complimentary kimchi jjigae. Inside Sangdaedon: the Sangdae-dong 5-danji food alley and the kids zone
Located near the Sangdae-dong 5-danji food alley, Sangdaedon looks clean from the entrance even though it's a meat restaurant. Inside, the tables are spaced well apart, making it a comfortable place to eat. There are baby chairs too, so dining out with a young child is possible. It's also a good spot for group gatherings or a Sangdae-dong work dinner.
Toward the back there's a kids zone. It's fully stocked with nostalgic arcade games and even a claw machine, which makes it great for family outings with kids. A thoughtful touch that keeps kids entertained while the adults eat.

What's on the Sangdaedon menu and how much is the signature set?
Here's the menu board. They serve charcoal pork belly, charcoal pork neck, charcoal skirt meat, beef brisket, and frozen pork belly. We ordered the Sangdae-dong signature set — makchang (grilled pork intestines) + naengsam (chilled thin-sliced pork belly) + assorted sundae (Korean blood sausage) — for ₩49,000.

Unlimited minari refills and the side dishes
The side dishes are neat and tasty too. The pajeori (scallion salad) was especially good and tangy. One reason you should visit Sangdaedon is the unlimited minari (water celery). With vegetable prices so high these days, being able to grill as much fresh minari as you want is amazing!!!!!!
It was a really hot day when I visited, so we had a somaek (soju-beer mix) before even starting to grill haha.

Here's the kimchi jjigae. A spicy, deeply flavored kimchi jjigae comes standard, and it looks so good you can't not order a bowl of rice. Even though it's a free side dish, it's loaded with meat!!!!

Naengsam: frozen pork belly with the house special sauce
The frozen pork belly cooks up golden brown quickly, so there's no waiting around. Eaten with fragrant minari and vegetables, it's not greasy at all — and why is the sweet potato that comes with it so good? It has the look and taste you'd only expect at a campsite.

Sangdaedon's own special sauce is a perfect match with the naengsam. Is that an egg yolk flavor??? It's genuinely unique. Dipping it along with the shredded scallions makes it even better.

Assorted sundae and pre-grilled makchang
The sundae (blood sausage) came out as we were eating. I've seen other bloggers grill their sundae on the grill plate, but I think eating it in its original form tastes better. If you can't handle organ meat, note that they can serve just the chapssal sundae (glutinous rice sausage).

The makchang I was most looking forward to. It comes pre-grilled once already, golden brown. No gamey smell at all, crispy outside, chewy inside.

The makchang sauce seems to be a special sauce too. Bursting with juice. I noticed they sell makchang on Coupang Eats too — now I get why. So chewy and delicious, T.T I already heart-saved it to order next time haha.

Finishing with jjondeugi candy and cold mul-naengmyeon
As the meat wound down, we put jjondaegi (a chewy candy-like snack) on the grill and toasted it golden brown. It had that crispy, chewy, sweet-and-nutty nostalgic taste.

After eating our fill of meat, we finished the meal with a refreshing mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup). It felt like it washed away all the greasiness. The noodles were nice and springy too — a solid way to end the meal!
Is Sangdaedon worth a return visit?
Delicious naengsam and charcoal makchang, savory sundae, fragrant unlimited minari, and even thoughtful jjondaegi at the end. But beyond the food, the owner and staff are so kind. It's the kind of hospitality that makes you want to come back. If you're looking for a BBQ restaurant in Sangdae-dong, Daejeon, visit Sangdaedon. We've already saved it on Google Maps as a place to return to haha.
