Sillim Station sundaeguk spot for a suyuk set with Dad: Sinjuokmi
In short
Sinjuokmi Sillim Station branch (신주옥미 신림역점) is a newly opened 24-hour sundaeguk (Korean blood sausage soup) restaurant near Sillim Station in Gwanak, Seoul. On a weekday when the restaurant was nearly full, the writer and Dad ordered the sundae-only Gat Sundaeguk set (₩13,800) and the meat-only Gat Sundaeguk (₩10,000), and the rich pork broth with no gamey smell and the suyuk (boiled pork slices) that tasted freshly cooked stood out most. At Sinjuokmi Sillim Station branch, adding ₩3,800 to turn any gukbap into the suyuk set is well worth it.

A new sundaeguk spot at Sillim Station: Sinjuokmi Sillim Station branch
Sinjuokmi Sillim Station branch (신주옥미 신림역점) is a brand-new 24-hour sundaeguk (blood sausage soup) restaurant on Sillim-ro 65-gil, near Sillim Station. I've been really into gukbap (rice soup) lately and am working my way through the gukbap places near my home one by one. This time I went to the newly opened Sinjuokmi at Sillim Station 😋

- ⏰ Hours: open 24 hours

Is Sinjuokmi Sillim Station branch busy on weekdays?
Even though the place is huge, it was almost completely full on a weekday, with just one table empty. The moment I walked in I was shocked at how big it is, but the number of customers shocked me even more… 😳 I haven't seen a gukbap place this packed in ages, haha

I'd heard Sinjuokmi makes its sundaeguk with domestic pork that it boils itself, and oddly enough the restaurant even posts the times when the suyuk (boiled pork) comes out. They're really serious about their suyuk, huh…

Sinjuokmi menu and prices: how much is the suyuk set?
At Sinjuokmi Sillim Station branch you can switch any gukbap to a suyuk set (suyuk jeongsik) for just ₩3,800 more, which makes it great value. Dad and I ordered these two:
- ✔️ Sundae-only Gat Sundaeguk set ₩13,800
- ✔️ Meat-only Gat Sundaeguk ₩10,000

Barley tea, side dishes and the self-bar
Even the water isn't plain water here. It comes as rich barley tea, and it's so nutty that I was in a good mood before the gukbap even arrived!!

The basic sides are kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), seasoned radish strips, onion and doenjang (soybean paste) sauce. The kkakdugi is cool and crunchy, a perfect match for gukbap~

Dip the onion in the doenjang sauce and it goes great with the meat 👍

The seasoned radish is surprisingly tangy, so it was nice for cleansing the palate between bites.

Perilla powder to stir into the soup is ready too.

There's also a separate self-bar with chives, dried radish strips, garlic, dadaegi (seasoning paste), salted shrimp and Cheongyang chili peppers, so you can customize your gukbap however you like ✨

How do the sundae-only and meat-only Gat Sundaeguk taste?
The bowls at Sinjuokmi are pretty big and packed with meat. When Dad saw his sundae-only soup, he said he was glad he hadn't ordered the large (teuk) size.

I'm a meat lover, so I got the meat-only gukbap ❤ The offal gukbap looked delicious too, haha. Look at how much meat there is.
I tried a spoonful of broth as soon as it arrived, and a clean yet rich pork broth hit me right away. I could barely taste any gamey smell. I love my rice in the soup, so I mixed it in right away.

Tender lean meat and chewy cuts were nicely mixed, so it was fun to eat. Topping a spoonful with a piece of kkakdugi completes the golden rule gukbap combo ❤

I dipped the meat in the doenjang sauce, and the salty, nutty flavor kept me reaching for more.
I stole a bite of Dad's sundae-only soup too, and the sundae was super plump and springy. If you love sundae, you'll probably prefer the sundae-only Gat Sundaeguk!

Is the suyuk set worth the extra ₩3,800?
For an extra ₩3,800 on top of your gukbap, the suyuk set comes with a few slices of different cuts of suyuk plus liver. When the suyuk set arrived a bit later and I tried it, I honestly understood why everyone recommends it. The liver coming along was a bonus too!

The suyuk really tasted freshly boiled. It was chewy but not dry, with a nutty flavor that rises the more you chew. Putting a little salted shrimp on top really brought out the savory depth~ Personally, the suyuk was even more memorable than the gukbap, haha!!

I hear Sinjuokmi boils domestic pork slaughtered that same day, every day, and maybe that's why the meat quality felt clearly good overall. They also say their fern sundaeguk, billed as Korea's first health-boosting version, is a signature menu, so I want to try that next time! In the end I finished every last drop of the broth, haha ❤
Overall verdict on Sinjuokmi Sillim Station branch
If you love gukbap, Sinjuokmi near Sillim Station is worth a visit at least once. Definitely add the suyuk set when you go 😎
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great meat quality, delicious suyuk, and open 24 hours. Honestly, having a gukbap place like this open near my home is a total win, haha
