Hi everyone, it's Yuttosul 💕 My periodic craving for gopchang (grilled intestines) and daechang (large intestine) is back. Yep, my daechang cooldown is over. Gotta eat what I want to eat, hehe.

Well air-conditioned in summer, with group tables

I was a bit scared to grill gopchang in the summer heat, but Baekho Yangdaechang's AC was blasting so it stayed cool even next to the fire 🙂 There's group seating too, so it'd be great for Isu company dinners or meetups. The restroom is inside too, which is convenient.

What side dishes come with the meal?

The basic side dishes are salt, pickled onion, seasoned chives, kimchi, peppers, ssamjang (dipping sauce), and a special sauce…. and soju. Soju is basically a side dish when you're eating gopchang. No arguments accepted ^0^

The mixed platter arrives pre-grilled

Baekho Yangdaechang's daechang, makchang, yang, and yeomtong (heart) all come pre-cooked. A small amount of woo-samgyeop (thin sliced beef), garlic, and shishito peppers is also provided. Since it comes pre-cooked, you need to order your second round early so the meat doesn't run out. We're educated people, after all 😉

Alright, let's dive in. I'm already excited just thinking about facing the gopchang.

True to being an Isu gopchang favorite, the staff grills all the meat for you 😀 Isn't that so nice! And charcoal-grilled gopchang on top of that — the fat's really going to render off.

Grilling offal is surprisingly tricky, but they did it with such skilled hands I was mesmerized watching, hehe. Once it's all grilled, they set it out so nicely like this.

Seeing it in the evening light really makes my mouth water. Tonight's dinner recommendation: grilled gopchang.

How the tripe, heart, makchang and daechang tasted

The yang was pleasantly chewy, the yeomtong tasted like real meat, and why is the makchang so soft? Maybe it's the charcoal, but even though it's gopchang, it's not greasy at all.

A piece of gopchang topped with cheongyang chili

Top it with a piece of cheongyang chili from the sauce and — ooh 😋 that's what an Isu gopchang favorite tastes like. This is the first time I've had daechang that wasn't greasy… maybe because the fat rendered off, the offal turned out lighter than expected.

At the end, they grilled the woo-samgyeop perfectly too. So pretty, more neatly arranged than my desk.

Woo-samgyeop needs kimchi. Meat + kimchi = never betrays you. The shishito peppers were slightly spicy, which made it even better. Grilled vegetables are just always delicious.

Adding a serving of daechang, cut in half on the grill

Adding a serving of daechang. Just the natural order of things, an inevitable truth. An even plumper daechang than before arrived, and I was so happy 💙

They cut the extra-large daechang in half and grilled it. Look at all that fat, this is going to be so good.

Large daechang cut in half and grilled

Extra large means extra delicious. This time, fat everywhere. Plump daechang really is love.

The side order: spicy soft tofu stew, 7,900 won

Next came the spicy soft tofu stew. Greasy food needs to be washed down with a spicy red broth, right? Oh, I really recommend the soft tofu stew as a side. It's packed with ingredients and the spiciness cuts right through the grease. It also made a great soju pairing.

I wanted one more bottle, but since I had to get home, I settled for three.

What time does the wait start at Baekho Yangdaechang?

I heard this was a wait-worthy Isu favorite, so I went early at 5:30pm — and the wait started right at 6pm. Great foresight, glad I came early 🥰 Ate really well again today.
