Haeundae pork BBQ lunch special with bibimbap and stew: Gwang-anmok
In short
Gwang-anmok Haeundae Branch is a dry-aged meat restaurant on Gunam-ro in Haeundae, Busan. The Gwang-anmok lunch special brings an aged pork set with homestyle doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) and bibimbap (mixed rice bowl). Staff grill everything on an asado-style grill, so you never touch the tongs, and a review event added a makgeolli shake. Lunch meat sells out often enough that some guests get turned away, so arrive early if you're going at lunchtime.

While hunting for a good meat restaurant in Haeundae, Busan, I found this place — Gwang-anmok Haeundae Branch!

The waiting area was so clean right from the start — you could tell they're set up for a lot of waiting customers, with great attention to guest comfort.

The table management system made waiting easy too! Aged meat is so popular these days that I wasn't sure where to go, but I came in with high expectations because they use a dry-aging method to bring out the meat's flavor.

The asado grill at the entrance, and the vibe of Gwang-anmok Haeundae Branch
The entrance was clean and had great atmosphere, so I had a good feeling even before going in.
What really caught my eye was the huge grill in front of the restaurant — a different vibe than your typical Korean BBQ place. Turns out it's an asado grill made by Ramston, a domestic grill manufacturer!!

Instead of quickly searing over high heat, this method uses charcoal heat and smoke to bring out the meat's flavor.

For anyone looking for a great-atmosphere meat restaurant in Haeundae, this place fits the bill perfectly.
The lunch special: aged pork set + doenjang stew + bibimbap
We ordered the lunch special, which comes with aged pork, doenjang stew (soybean paste soup) and bibimbap (mixed rice) — such an amazing deal!

Gwang-anmok doesn't do ordinary aging — they use both dry-aging and wet-aging together.

Exposing the meat to air to reduce moisture during aging creates deep flavor, apparently. Maybe that's why the color of the meat looked a bit different from regular meat as soon as it arrived! The self-serve bar and drinks were really well stocked, which was great — I could comfortably grab whatever side dishes and sauces I wanted!

It's impressive that Gwang-anmok chases that flavor even accepting the weight loss that comes from the aging process — what a Haeundae gem!

Staff grill the meat for you, pork neck served rare
The staff grilled the meat for us themselves, so we could just relax and enjoy the meal without lifting a finger.

They carefully managed the grilling timing and cut the meat into bite-sized pieces, and explained that the pork neck cut tastes softer and better cooked slightly rare!

You could tell how reasonable and careful the preparation is just from the menu's "why so special?" section — it was such a fun read, explaining how the meat is made and how the ingredients are used.
They also run a review event — request it when you write a review and you can get a makgeolli shake or pudding-style steamed egg!

Even the grill plate is fancy — they use coffee charcoal for even heat distribution, completing that deep flavor of Gwang-anmok meat!

Apparently the strong heat caramelizes the outside while keeping the inside juicy.

As I mentioned, they use a South American-style asado grill that slowly applies heat so the smoky flavor seeps in deep and smooth, maximizing the meat's natural taste!! And the staff make it all happen without me lifting a finger — such a win!
Side dishes and care for kids
The side dishes came out so neat and impressive too — with such hearty basics, how could you not be happy haha

Since we brought our daughter along, they even thoughtfully gave her elegant kids' seaweed snacks!

We waited comfortably for about 15 minutes before the meat came out, and my wife and I were pretty relaxed about it — and the visual of the full platter was amazing!

Gwang-anmok Haeundae Branch is definitely the kind of place you'd want to post on your Instagram feed or story!

The visual of the meat at Gwang-anmok Haeundae Branch is more than enough for a hearty meal! You could really see why so many people come here.
Anchovy salt and basil-chimichurri combo
The staff at this Haeundae samgyeopsal (pork belly) place were so kind, explaining how to eat the meat deliciously!

First they recommended dipping the meat generously in the handmade salt made from prized anchovies sourced from the clean waters of southern Korea, insisting on anchovies from Gijang — it makes the meat richer without being salty.

Then they recommended placing the meat on a lightly grilled basil leaf — Italian herbs meeting Korean pork — topped with chimichurri (a South American sauce, here made with angelica and perilla leaf), saying it tastes incredible. I tried both methods and they were both delicious with great flavor!

Bibimbap and mom-style doenjang stew
The bibimbap (mixed rice) that came with the lunch special set also looked amazing. Mixed with the chojang (vinegared gochujang sauce) they provided, it made for a really hearty and delicious meal!

The mom-style doenjang stew (soybean paste soup) looked and smelled great too — my wife especially raved about how delicious it was. It felt exactly like a home-cooked meal made by your mom, which is probably why so many people seek it out!

Review event makgeolli shake
The makgeolli (Korean rice wine) shake I got from the review event was so sweet it tasted like a regular drink — I felt like I could gulp it down and end up totally drunk haha! If you like sweet makgeolli, you have to try it!

Since I had to drive, I happily settled for zero-calorie cola instead haha! Cheers!!!
While we were eating, more lunch customers kept coming in, but some had to turn back because the lunch meat had all sold out for the day. That's how popular this place is!
If you're looking for a great samgyeopsal (pork belly) spot in Haeundae and want to try specially aged meat, I strongly recommend Gwang-anmok Haeundae Branch! It was such a memorable meat restaurant.
