Basement café in Seongsu for studying: pick a high table, T Coffee

In short

T Coffee is a quiet basement café on Achasan-ro in Seongsu, Seoul, about a 10-minute walk from Seongsu Station. The writer ordered a cappuccino, an americano and a café latte. T Coffee gets soft natural light despite being underground and is quiet enough that many customers study there, though some tables are low and can be awkward for laptop work. For calm studying or a quiet break in Seongsu, T Coffee works best if you grab one of the high tables.

T Coffee, a basement café in Seongsu

When you go looking for cafés in Seongsu, there are plenty of pretty ones and plenty of famous ones, but sometimes I'm drawn to a place where I can spend time quietly without the crowds. T Coffee, which I visited this time, gave me exactly that feeling.

It has a stylish interior, a surprising amount of natural light, and looked like a good place to quietly sip coffee or study. If you're after a calm café in Seongsu, give it a look!

Where is T Coffee in Seongsu, and how do you find it?

T Coffee is about a 10-minute walk from Seongsu Station, on the basement level (B1) of a building on Achasan-ro. On a first visit, though, it can be a little confusing to find.

Area around the T Coffee entrance in the basement next to a pizza shop

T Coffee sits in the basement with a pizza shop right next door, so keep an eye on your surroundings.

What stood out most was that the two shops seem connected by a transparent door. To use the restroom you even have to walk through the pizza shop side, which felt a bit funny at first. It's unlike a typical café layout, so it stuck in my memory.

It's a basement café, so isn't it dark?

When you hear "basement café," it's easy to picture something dark and stuffy, but T Coffee gets more light than I expected, which I liked. Soft light filters into the space, and with the stylish mood on top, it's comfortable to stay in.

Above all, T Coffee was really quiet. There were people doing assignments or studying when I visited, and it wasn't noisy, so I thought it was a good atmosphere for focusing.

Cafés in Seongsu can get hectic and crowded on weekends or at popular times, right? T Coffee suits those moments when you want to relax over a calm coffee or spend some time on your own.

Are the tables a good height for studying or laptop work?

Tables and seating layout at T Coffee

Some of the desks at T Coffee are low, so setting up a laptop or studying for a long stretch could be uncomfortable. I liked the overall atmosphere, but the tables were a bit of a letdown.

Luckily there are high tables too, so it's best to choose a seat that fits your purpose. If you're coming to do homework or study, I recommend checking the table height before you sit down.

What desserts and coffee does T Coffee have?

T Coffee had about five kinds of desserts, neatly laid out. Rather than an overwhelming selection, it's put together as a simple accompaniment, so it was easy to browse without any pressure.

We ordered a cappuccino, an americano and a café latte. I liked that the coffee menu has familiar choices.

Whether you like milky coffees such as a cappuccino or café latte, or want a clean americano, the lineup lets you choose to your taste. Just sipping a coffee in a quiet space felt relaxing.

If you want a quiet stay in Seongsu

T Coffee's charm is its soft light and calm mood rather than anything flashy or crowded. Being in the basement, it may be a little hard to find at first, but that actually makes it feel like a place only those in the know come to.

If you're looking for a quiet café in Seongsu, it seems fine for studying or doing assignments too. Just note there are low tables as well, so if you plan to work on a laptop for a long time, use a high table.

T Coffee is a good place to visit when you want to rest over a quiet coffee in Seongsu, or when you're looking for a stylish space.
