Frozen pork belly BBQ for two near Sangbong Station: Super Naengsam
In short
Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch is a frozen pork belly (naengsam) Korean BBQ restaurant in the Sangbong food alley in Jungnang, Seoul, charging ₩9,900 per serving. Two diners ordered 3 servings, added 1 more and left a little because the portions were generous. The standouts were the naengsam grilled with the complimentary minari (water dropwort) and bean sprouts, and the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) ordered instead of ramyeon. For value and a spot that also suits group gatherings, Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch is a safe choice.

I was craving naengsam (frozen pork belly) recently and was wandering around the Sangbong food alley when I found this place — Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch!
These days a lot of naengsam places have surprisingly steep prices, but this one was ₩9,900 per serving, which looked reasonable, so I went straight in. Bottom line up front: the naengsam was good, but honestly everything from the basic side dishes to the doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) was satisfying overall.
Location and the 7 PM vibe at Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch
Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch sits in the Sangbong food alley, a great spot for a meal or a drink with the neighborhood buzz around it. We went around 7 PM and there was no wait.
But once inside, nearly every table was full — it was packed. I got the feeling that if we'd come even a little later, there might have been a wait.
A restaurant that works for both group gatherings and kids

The interior of Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch was clean overall. It can reportedly seat up to 60 people, so it looked like a solid option for a company dinner or a group gathering.
Sure enough, there were quite a few groups when we visited. There were also baby chairs available, so it seemed good for families too. I also liked that there's a self-serve bar, so you can easily grab more veggies or side dishes yourself.
Four servings of naengsam for two — how much is that, really?

We ordered 4 servings of naengsam, priced at ₩9,900 per serving. Since it was just the two of us, we first ordered 3 servings, but ended up wanting a bit more so we added 1.
But 4 servings turned out to be a lot more than expected. 😂 We got so full we had to leave a little behind. If you're going as a pair, I'd recommend starting with 3 servings and adding more if you're still hungry, rather than ordering 4 right away.
Naengsam with minari and bean sprouts

Naengsam is fun because it's thin and grills fast. Put the meat on the grill and it cooks almost instantly — no waiting around — and the thin slices got just the right amount of fat rendered out, bringing out a nutty, savory flavor.
We tried it with the minari (water dropwort) that came as a default side, and that combo was genuinely delicious. The nutty flavor of the naengsam paired with the fragrant minari cut through the richness and kept us reaching for more. The bean sprouts were also really good. Piling a piece of meat with both minari and bean sprouts gave a nice mix of textures and tasted even better.
The basic banchan and self-serve bar

You might think a naengsam place just needs good meat, but the basic banchan (side dishes) at Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch were solid too. They come out neatly as a full spread, and they were the kind of sides that pair well with the meat — fun to try one by one.
The minari and bean sprouts in particular, we kept refilling. Having a self-serve bar made it easy to grab as much as we wanted.
Wait, there's a Hangang ramyeon machine too?

What surprised me here was the Hangang ramyeon (instant noodle) machine. Quite a few customers were cooking their own bibim noodles, buldak bokkeum myeon (spicy fire noodles), jjapaguri, and yeolla myeon.
Meat plus self-cooked ramyeon sounded like the perfect combo, but that day we decided to eat a bit healthier and ordered doenjang stew instead of ramyeon.

The doenjang stew we chose instead of ramyeon was amazing!

Honestly, we only ordered the doenjang stew as a side to go with the meat, but it was way better than expected. The spicy, savory kick was on point, and taking a spoonful between bites of meat worked really well.
When you start feeling greasy from the meat, a sip of doenjang stew broth totally resets your palate! We didn't get to try the ramyeon, but choosing the doenjang stew actually felt like the right call, haha. I think I'd order it again next time.
Draft beer makes it complete
Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch also serves draft beer, which paired nicely with the naengsam. In the evening there were plenty of people enjoying meat and drinks, and the overall vibe was relaxed and lively.
It seemed like a great spot for a casual drink with friends, and it would also work well for a company dinner or group gathering.
Final verdict — who should visit
- Anyone looking for a good naengsam spot in Sangbong
- Anyone looking for a good-value BBQ restaurant
- Anyone who wants meat and drinks with friends
- Anyone looking for a spot for a company dinner or group gathering
- Anyone looking for a BBQ place to visit with kids
At ₩9,900 per serving, the price is easy on the wallet, and beyond the naengsam, the basic banchan and the doenjang stew were both good, so overall satisfaction was high. I especially loved the combo of naengsam with minari and bean sprouts.
Next time I want to actually try the Hangang ramyeon machine. If you're ever craving naengsam in the Sangbong food alley, Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch is worth a visit.
