We were on a date in Anguk and wanted pizza, so we headed to Low Five Anguk. This time we got a half-and-half pizza, corn and hot pepperoni in one go. It was fun going back and forth between the sweet, nutty side and the spicy, salty side. A great pick if you're hunting for Bukchon pizza and want a date-night mood too!

Is Low Five Anguk good for a date?

It's in a red brick building in a Bukchon alley, and it has a lovely date-spot feel. The red brick, the windows and the warm glow from inside looked so pretty that I was excited before we even walked in.

Inside, round lights, green plants and wooden tables go together nicely. It's the kind of place where you'd rather sit across from each other and talk than just eat and leave. I think it suits anyone looking for pizza near Anguk Station who is also puzzling over where to have a date.

Half-and-half pizza: which flavors can you choose?

Pizza menu lineup at Low Five Anguk

The pizzas are organized into a few flavors: corn pizza, hot pepperoni pizza, hot chili potato pizza and Tex-Max taco pizza. You can also pick two of them for a "half-and-half pizza." We chose hot pepperoni and corn! Getting two different flavors on one pie is great when you're sharing.

Table with half-and-half pizza, salad and pasta

We also ordered a classic Caesar salad as an appetizer and vongole pasta to go with the pizza. Three dishes for two people, would that be too much? I wondered, but the combo went together so well that it was just right!

Hot pepperoni pizza: spicy, salty, chewy pepperoni

Hot pepperoni pizza topped with whole olives

The hot pepperoni pizza at Low Five Anguk has spicy, salty pepperoni with rich cheese and a flavorful sauce. Add the nutty aroma of freshly baked dough and, well, pizza straight out of the oven is powerful stuff.. haha. The cheese stretched as soon as I lifted a slice, which looked so tempting.

I especially liked that the pepperoni wasn't hard! It had a soft, chewy bite, so it was easy to enjoy the toppings and dough together. Whole olives added a fragrant note here and there, so it wasn't just salty. Even the crust edge was too good to leave behind. The toasty flavor of the baked dough had me finishing it all.🤍

Corn pizza: sweet, grilled-corn flavor

The corn pizza at Low Five Anguk leaned sweet and nutty. Golden grilled corn on top had a real presence, and when you ate it that toasty aroma and sweetness of grilled corn came through. The sauce blended well with the corn flavor, giving it a different charm from the pepperoni.

One half-and-half pizza with corn and hot pepperoni

One side spicy and salty, the other sweet and nutty. The more we alternated, the more glad I was that we went half-and-half! Even if you come with someone whose tastes differ from yours, you can each pick from one pie.

Classic Caesar salad: what happens with lemon juice?

Classic Caesar salad with generous cheese

The classic Caesar salad that came as an appetizer at Low Five Anguk paired well with the pizza too. Fresh greens with plenty of cheese on top looked generous from the start.

It tasted fresh with a subtle saltiness, which was great for whetting the appetite. The savory depth of the dressing and the nuttiness of the cheese were appealing. I also liked that having salad between bites of pizza changed how my mouth felt.

If you add a little of the lemon juice served alongside, you get a fresh zing and a whole different flavor. Nutty first, then bright with lemon! You can use as much as you like.

Vongole pasta with the pizza

We ordered the vongole (clam) pasta at Low Five Anguk too! Isn't the plating just so pretty..♥

Salty, fragrant vongole pasta

Eating the salty, fragrant vongole pasta in between made the meal more filling and tasty! Ordering pizza and pasta together was definitely the right call~ At first I thought three dishes for two might be too many, but all three went so well together that we kept eating. When you choose, look not only at the pizza but at the other dishes that go with it, and enjoy a variety of food together!

Verdict: what kind of date suits Low Five Anguk?

Low Five Anguk is a Bukchon Western restaurant where we enjoyed a warm date-friendly mood and the different charms of half-and-half pizza, two flavors on one pie. The cheese was generous and the crust edge nutty, so every slice was good to the last bite. The classic Caesar salad, with its option to add freshness, was a nice side too. If you're looking for pizza in Jongno or Anguk, stop by for a meal after wandering around Bukchon. What stays with me is the fun of alternating between the two pizzas and the mood of the space :)
