Cauldron rice set for two at Yeseoban, a Sillim Korean restaurant

Yeseoban is a cauldron-rice Korean restaurant on Munseong-ro in Gwanak, Seoul, between Sillim Station and Seowon Station. The braised pollack with radish greens for two costs 34,000 won and arrived with two whole pollack plus endless rice cake, tofu and radish greens, alongside cauldron rice with a properly scorched crust. After two years of bringing her parents to Yeseoban, the writer recommends it to anyone looking for a Korean meal with elders in Sillim.

Custard cream bread at On the Rail, a Munsan café in Paju

On the Rail is a bakery café by the train tracks on Imjingak-ro in Munsan-eup, Paju, Gyeonggi. A late-afternoon visit meant custard cream bread (7,500 won), an iced americano (5,500 won) and an iced tea, enjoyed across On the Rail's indoor seats and outdoor garden as the bright sky turned to sunset and then a night view. Open until 2am, On the Rail works just as well as a late-night stop after a Paju drive.
