Hodu Kkakki Brothers, a handmade pie and dessert shop in Yangjae

I'd been curious about Hodu Kkakki Brothers (호두까끼형제) in Yangjae for ages because of its wide pie lineup, and I finally made it there, so here's my review.
Where is Hodu Kkakki Brothers in Yangjae, and where do you park?
The Yangjae branch is near Exit 4 of Yangjae Station, and I mean literally right next to the station. For parking, use the Eonju Elementary School public parking lot, a 6-minute walk away.

As you can see on the map, it's near Exit 4 of Yangjae Station, and the Eonju Elementary School public lot is a 6-minute walk away, so parking was good value.
Hodu Kkakki Brothers menu: whole pies and single pies
There were 5 whole-pie options that are good value and great as birthday cakes. One catch: the flavor mixes are fixed, at 4, 2 or 1 flavors per pie.

Drinks are fairly good value too, from special blend coffee to ades and teas.

Dubai crispy pie was on sale in limited quantities, and there were these other pies too.
- Macadamia pie
- Hazelnut cacao pie
- Sweet pumpkin pie
- Pecan pie
- Milk cream pie

There were also signature single pies such as matcha cream, cream cheese and walnut pie.
Gift boxes and the shop atmosphere
The whole-pie box has a cute nutcracker illustration, so it works well as a dessert gift. Even when I bought single pies, they came in an equally cute printed box.

The shop is takeout only. The little props in front of the red front door and the string lights above were adorable, and the arched glass gives off a spoonful of European vibes.

Inside, you'll spot nutcracker doll props here and there. You can see the pies in the showcase before ordering, which really helped me choose.
How did the 7 pie flavors at Hodu Kkakki Brothers taste?
I picked 7 flavors at the Yangjae branch, and they looked so pretty and colorful.

If you pick 8 pieces in the flavors you like, it'd make a perfect birthday cake.
Macadamia pie
This pie has plenty of macadamia on top, and that nutty macadamia flavor was the kicker. I usually love macadamia, so it was totally my taste. Underneath is a cream cheese filling; I ate it chilled and the filling went firm, like ice cream, and so good. The crust is pastry-style and seriously delicious.

Pecan pie
Naturally, the pecan pie is packed with its main ingredient, pecans. The pastry is filled with walnut filling, so the nutty richness just explodes. It's the basic of basics, and never a miss!

Milk cream pie
The milk cream is spread as thick as the almond filling, smooth yet chewy, with a rich milky flavor that was the real deal.

New item: matcha cream pie
As you can see in the photo, the new matcha cream pie isn't just matcha-scented. It has tea particles in it, giving a deep, bittersweet matcha flavor, and the filling underneath, with walnuts you can chew, is a little salty, so the combination was the best.
A nutty-salty combo that rivals sweet-and-salty, on top of the bittersweet 👍

Cream cheese pie
Maybe to set it apart from the milk cream pie, the cream cheese pie has a different shape, and the taste and texture were different too. It was tangier with a firmer texture, another delicious combination.

Sweet pumpkin pie
Like the macadamia, the sweet pumpkin pie doesn't have a walnut filling; you get a nutty, earthy sweetness. It's made to taste of the ingredient itself, and the crispy pastry is perfect for dessert lovers.

Cacao hazelnut pie
The cacao hazelnut pie also had the bittersweet chocolate taste of real cacao coming through.
Hodu Kkakki Brothers hours and delivery orders

If you want walnut pie that isn't too sweet and tastes of its ingredients, I recommend it.
Hodu Kkakki Brothers handmade pies: overall verdict
Hodu Kkakki Brothers says it uses oligosaccharide syrup and natural honey instead of refined sugar, and maybe that's why the sweetness isn't harsh, which I personally liked even more. The nutty flavor from the ingredients was really good, and there was a wide variety of pies.
They keep easily in hot summer weather and taste great chilled, so this is a place I'd revisit for a birthday cake or whenever I crave dessert. The thin pastry crust, made with organic flour that includes rice flour, was delicious too, so if you usually like walnut pie, I'd recommend it.
