Cheonan budae-jjigae restaurant with an 11:30am egg roll: Cheongwon

When I was craving a warm Korean meal in Cheonan, I went to Cheongwon Sikdang.

After trying it myself, I found I could enjoy plenty of ramyeon noodles and rice along with the budae-jjigae (army stew) broth, which made it a great pick if you're looking for a good-value budae-jjigae spot in Cheonan. What I especially liked was that the ramyeon and rice were unlimited refills. I could order just one pot of budae-jjigae and still eat until I was full.

Takeout and reservations are both available, and they even have baby chairs, so it's great for family visits! On top of that, there's an extra ₩2,000 off with the takeout discount! You can eat well here for cheap.

Budae-jjigae menu and prices at Cheongwon

Cheongwon Sikdang's signature dishes are the Songtan budae-jjigae and the appealing Cheongwon budae-jjigae. The Songtan budae-jjigae is ₩11,000 per person and the Cheongwon budae-jjigae is ₩12,000 per person.

What I especially liked was that the ramyeon noodles and rice were free, unlimited refills. Usually adding just one extra ramyeon sari (noodle add-on) to budae-jjigae bumps up the price,

but at Cheongwon Sikdang you can comfortably add more ramyeon and rice, making for a hearty meal. If you're visiting with kids, there's also a pork loin cutlet option. The kids' side menu has pork loin cutlet for ₩9,000, which makes it useful as a family dining choice too.

What the dining room and seating are like

My first impression walking into Cheongwon Sikdang was that it felt clean overall.

The tables were fairly wide and the chairs were comfortable, so sitting for a while eating budae-jjigae wasn't uncomfortable at all.

The layout worked well for a group meal like the one I had, and even though the tables were arranged in a long row, the space didn't feel cramped. Most of all, if you're thinking of a family visit, having baby chairs available is a nice touch. They also had aprons ready, so if you're worried about splashing broth on your clothes, you're covered.

The self-serve bar: banchan, ramyeon noodles, and rice refills

Another reason I was satisfied at Cheongwon Sikdang was the self-serve bar.

If you run low on banchan (side dishes), you can refill them yourself, and you can take as much ramyeon and rice as you want, so I never had to feel self-conscious throughout the meal.

What I look forward to most when eating budae-jjigae is dunking ramyeon noodles into the broth, and since the ramyeon here is unlimited refill, my satisfaction was definitely high.

Being able to eat rice alongside it too made this a great place to visit on a day when you're craving a brothy Korean meal.

How the budae-jjigae tastes, plus the egg roll before 11:30am

When I was craving a brothy Korean meal, the real appeal of Cheongwon Sikdang, as I found out eating it myself, was the budae-jjigae.

The signature ham and sausage flavor of budae-jjigae blended into the broth, and adding ramyeon noodles made for a satisfying, hearty meal.

I thought it was a dish that suits days when you want warm broth and rice together rather than something spicy and intense.

I especially enjoyed watching the broth thicken and deepen in flavor little by little as the ramyeon noodles cooked in it.

Also, if you arrive before 11:30 AM, you get a free egg roll as a service item — a nice extra bit of protein, complete with a clever ketchup message written on top, which made me really happy :)

Eating the banchan and rice together made for a fully satisfying meal, and considering the price, the value was pretty good too.

Why I keep coming back to this Dujeong-dong Korean restaurant

When I'm in Cheonan and craving budae-jjigae, I keep coming back to Cheongwon Sikdang.

What matters to me isn't just the taste of the food but also parking, atmosphere, menu prices, and how filling the meal is — and this place satisfied all of those overall without any complaints.

I also learned that Cheongwon Sikdang uses 100% domestic ground beef, and they offer a spicy version of budae-jjigae made with cheongyang chili peppers too.

The staff stirred the budae-jjigae for us and let us know the best time to eat it, and between their friendly service, the rich flavor, and the reasonable price, it was a great experience. This time I even got watermelon for dessert, so I left feeling like I'd gotten my money's worth!

I especially liked being able to enjoy unlimited refills of ramyeon and rice, and I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants a warm, filling plate of budae-jjigae.
