Today I'm sharing my visit to Hodukkakki Brothers (호두까끼형제) Bangbae branch, a well-known handmade premium walnut pie shop in Bangbae 🫶🏻

Why I went to Hodukkakki Brothers in person

I first found out about Hodukkakki Brothers when someone gave me their pies as a thank-you gift. One bite and it was so much better than I expected that I looked up where it was from, haha. I like desserts in general, but I get tired quickly of anything too sweet or buttery. The Hodukkakki Brothers pies were plain yet nutty, and that taste stuck with me 😋

So this time I visited the Bangbae branch myself, looked around at all the different pies and even bought a premium set. I immediately understood why people choose them so often for gifts and thank-you presents!!

If you're looking for a café near Naebang Station, you can enjoy a handmade pie with coffee, and takeout and courier orders are available too, so I was happy with it in many ways.

Hodukkakki Brothers Bangbae branch is at 21-1 Seocho-daero 27-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul (JL Building, 1st floor, Unit 101). It's open Mon–Fri 10:30–20:00 and Sat–Sun 10:30–19:30.

It's about 200 m from Exit 8 of Naebang Station, and I think it took me about 3 minutes to stroll over~

What's the atmosphere like at the Bangbae branch?

The Bangbae branch has a tidier shop space than I expected. I only knew the brand from thank-you gifts, so I didn't realize there was a shop at all, but when I went there was actually seating!

You can take your time with a pie and a drink. If you're after a café near Naebang Station, it felt like a nice, quiet spot for dessert 🤎

What pies does Hodukkakki Brothers have?

The Bangbae branch has a really wide variety of pies, much more than I expected, and it was hard to pick just one,, 🤯

There was the signature walnut pie, plus pecan pie, hazelnut cacao pie, macadamia cheese pie, sweet pumpkin pie, matcha cream cheese pie and Dubai chocolate pie, so there's plenty of range to match your taste 👍

Mini walnut and pecan pies

Another thing that impressed me was that they also have mini walnut and pecan pies. The mini size is an easy, no-pressure portion for thank-you gifts or group snacks, and it looked good for gifting several flavors together.

What's in the Premium Nuts Pie set I took home

This time I took home the Hodukkakki Brothers Premium Nuts Pie set.

The Premium Nuts Pie set comes with two each of Signature Walnut Pie, Original Pecan Pie, Hazelnut Pecan Pie and Macadamia Cheese Pie 🙌 The packaging looks high-end too, so it seems just right for a dessert gift set.

How does the walnut pie taste?

The pies were much plainer, in a good way, than I expected. That was what surprised me most when I first got them as a gift, too. Other pies I'd tried often had a strong butter smell or were very sweet, so I'd get sick of them after a few pieces, but at Hodukkakki Brothers, a handmade walnut pie specialist, I could eat all the way to the end without feeling weighed down.

Besides the signature walnut and pecan pies, there are other kinds like hazelnut cacao pie and macadamia cheese pie, so trying several flavors at once is a lot of fun. The hazelnut cacao pie with coffee is seriously good, so please have them together 🤎😙

They say they use organic wheat flour and rice flour, and maybe that's why the texture felt clean and the pie felt gentle on the stomach.

There are generous amounts of nuts throughout, so the nutty flavor came out the more I chewed, and you can really feel the quality of each ingredient. I was very satisfied 💯

Are Hodukkakki Brothers pies good as gifts?

The pies aren't too sweet, so when I gave them to my parents, the older folks actually liked them even more 🤍 Having tried them myself, I now see why people buy them for holiday gifts, thank-you presents and office group snacks, haha.
